F1 2012(Game) Anyone play?

Picked up F1 2012 for Xbox yesterday and was wondering if anyone else plays it. Co-op carreer looks fun if I had someone to play with.

Seriously takes a lot of focus to play. Currently using a controller but considering a wheel purchase in the future.

I like the franchise, but 2010's the last one I have. They just don't sell well around here, so hardly anyone stocks them. I found 2010 last January in a Brandsmart new. Evidently it it had just been sitting there for that long.

I played the demo and really liked it. It also kicked my ass the first time I played it. I have never finished higher than like 6th in the first demo race.

No, I had the last few. I've played enough at a friends house with a proper wheel/seat setup, I can't do the controller anymore.

Now, I can't justify the money on a GOOD wheel when I need to spend money on the track car.

I am still playing this F1 game.

Well dang. I bought 2010 only played it once and traded it in. I like all the elements of this one and it is really challenging to managing everything on top of driving insanely fast. It's interesting trying different KERS strategies while trying to run down someone to use the DRS. I usually end up overrunning corners while trying to select tires for the next pit stop. Lol also the dynamic weather is pretty cool, now it might only be raining on part of the track but not the other half.

I just got it for the PS3. Bought it the week before the race in Austin, so I could "drive" the track.

Jumped right in to a career, in Legend. Very happy with the difficulty. Has definitely kept me interested thus far, trying to figure out not only how to be smooth and fast in the car, but with strategy and trying to move up the rankings.

I had not heard about the dynamic weather before I bought 2010. First time the WX changed while I was out on the circuit, it blew my mind. Nice to hear they're still pushing the boundary on that.

This'll probably be my next driving sim purchase, but it may take me a little bit. I had no idea about the career co-op mode!

Got it lined up to play after I finish NFS:S2U.

I bought it for one of my Christmas presents. That and a G27 wheel. I'll report in in January.

I'm looking to buy a fanatec wheel and pedal set in the near future. All I play are racing games for the most part so might as well make it more enjoyable. Plus better practice during the offseason.

Started today, I think my screen is too small, on some courses I can't see the corners coming up until it's too late.

Do you use the in car or tv pod cam? In car is really hard to see the apex due to the wing mirrors being in the way, apparently the actual F1 drivers have the same issue.

Yeah I was using the in-car camera. On the Australia circuit, on half the corners I either have to brake early because I can't see exactly where the corners are or I just see them too late and plow off the course.

BTW if you're using a G27, use the default G27 settings in-game (don't customize them) and then in the profiler software, set the wheel travel to 290deg for F1 2012. That will give you 1:1 steering.

Update: I turned on the driving line indicator (somewhere in the options menu, with the difficulty and driver aid options) to address the visibility problem. I left the difficulty maxed otherwise. Last night I tried qualifying on Albert Park, the top times were in the 1:25s and I was in the 1:33s. I got down into the 1:28s on the stickier yellow-sidewall tires in time trial mode.

I didn't realize how much of the difficulty of driving these things comes from the "duct-tape deathmatch" factor. On some corners if your line, entry speed and turn-in aren't juuust right, you won't be able to make it no matter how much you slow down due to the low lock angle.

Other guys playing this, what kind of times are you getting on Albert Park on the white-sidewall tires? I just can't get under 1:33. I tried lowering the AI skill from "Legend" to "Professional" and that still qualifies me in the back half of the pack.

I can't recall what I was running there. Did terrible, though. Mainly due to the fact that I did the "Quick Tune" set up. Bad idea.

Go to THIS SITE. I use the setups from the members there, and have had a much better time of it. Still don't qualify the best, but I have knocked out two 5th place finishes, and a 2nd, on the Legends setting.

I didn't mess with the car's settings at all, tonight I'll try that. If I can make this thing rotate and stick to the corners at the same time I'll be in business.

Setting the car up is essential. My times improved dramatically.

Just saw this is 30 bucks at gamestop, I may not have the willpower to stop me from picking it up this weekend.

I bought it to learn the CotA track before I ran it. I at least knew which way the track went, but the elevation changes are much greater in person, for sure. After getting back from the track, I was able to knock a little over 2 secs of my time in the game.

Has anyone played this with the G27 wheel?

I tried last night and the wheel was TERRIBLE! I tried messing with the settings, but just threw in GT 5 instead and enjoyed it feeling just as it should from the get go.

Anyone have suggestions on how to change the wheel to make the game driveable?
