I didn't mention anything about not liking Disneyland. I was just using it as an example of something fenced off from the rest of the world and creating its own reality.

Kind of like Facebook.

And if I'm correct, that was kindof-sortof the reason for that whole whistleblower deal, right?

I am with you Snowdoggie, I don't like Disneyland either devil

Traffic to get to an overcrowded mass of people to wait in long lines for OK rides and spend a LOT of money for the pleasure.... ich.

No, I'm genuinely concerned. It's been a long time since I've seen something that wasn't a negative post from you. I was once that way and I understand how easy it is to get trapped in that mindset. I just want you to be well and happy-ish.

I don't really hate Disneyland other than the fact that it is getting to be a bit pricey, but what isn't overpriced these days.

On the other hand, The Dave Matthews Band....

I don't even have any experience like yours, and I hate the Dave Matthews Band too.  That hate is made up of 1 part DMB fans, 1 part stupid 'fire dancer' stickers, 2 parts FM radio playlists, and 4 parts thinking Dave Matthews is like R Kelly-level creepy.

And while we're at it, I hate Disney, too.  Except Pixar, who didn't start out as a Disney product, but got borged.

I grew up with disney. Great grandmother lived in St Cloud, we visited every April and October. We hit disney at least once a year. When you could buy peoples unused partial tickets for a fraction of the price in the late 80's early 90's was awesome. Park Hopper hitting the highlights at all 3 main parks for $25/person. But I also remember the mid-80's when it was dead, lines didn't exist and GM still had a hospitality room at the world of motion (that is now Test Track). So many great memories.

I won't say I hate DMB, but I greatly dislike most of it. I don't mind Nickelback, and don't quite understand the hate - they're generic sounding, nothing special, basically just an elevator music of grunge/alt metal.

I really like Disney movies, and I really like Disney parks... I hate all the people that are at Disney, and how much it costs.

I hate facebook and most social media, and am thinking about deleting it. It is a testament to its addictiveness that I haven't yet.

They actually work on getting you to stay on Facebook and spend more and more time there. Yes it is addictive. I know of one marriage that almost ended because he spent more time online that he spent with her.

I am actually working on spending less time online and more time working on my project cars, playing with my dogs and spending one on one time with Mrs. Snowdoggie.

I promise, none of us are nearly as interesting as we think we are.

The aversion to voice-controlled coffeemakers isn't about tracking -- I just don't want to have to wait for a 30 minute software update before I can make coffee. :)

Wouldn't know, don't drink that nasty stuff. Better half just uses a Keurig.

We have a Fire Cube for the TV, but have the microphone turned off. It would be really annoying to be watching a cooking a show and have it pause to ask us if we wanted to order eggs because it's picking up the center channel.

As far as "other" smart appliances, don't have any, not because I'm against them, but because I'm not paying $3000 for a refrigerator that has cameras inside so I don't have to open the door. Or $400 for a toaster.  laugh

The only one I've considered is my manager told me he just got a WiFi/Bluetooth pellet grill/smoker so he put on pork butt or brisket in the morning, and during the day while working he can easily monitor the temp, if needs more fuel, etc. That makes sense to me.

I hate French cars.

Every one I've worked on is ugly, unreliable and put together in the most backwards way possible.

Yet the stupid companies manage to generate wins in F1, rally and other events somehow.

There's nothing rational about it, I just think their cars are awful.

I totally understand irrational hatred of something.

It is a little weird. They're rather mediocre and generic, but there's a lot of equally mediocre, generic bands out there. I'm not sure why Nickelback gets singled out.

And when it breaks, you're borked.  We had a semi-smart printer for awhile.  Wifi and all that.  It was constantly trying to connect to my work laptop and make it think that it *was* the network, so every time I re-started the laptop I had to go in and manually reset the network.  Mildly annoying.  What was more annoying was that the WiFi network to wirelessly connect to the printer never actually did work, when you wanted it to, and woe be unto you if you actually got it to work, and then the power went out and the printer cycled.  Finally, one day when I was at Wal-Mart staring at printer cartridges, I realized that the new cartridges for the stupid thing were like $50....and they were out of the color ones.  I then turned around and saw a brand new, dumb-as-a-box-of-nails Canon printer for $34.  Guess what I bought...and which worked flawlessly right out of the box?  The "smart" printer is now sitting in the basement.  I may very well give it some sort of Office-Space type send-off.  I berkeleying hate that printer.

Almost as much as I berkeleying hate DMB.
