I don't know why I was thinking about this but I got thinking about my childhood growing up in the 80's and some of the cars I remember seeing as a kid. I have always been into cars and I can specifically recall certain cars from my childhood and how they looked at the time and in some cases the first time I saw one in person.
I would have to say that my favorite is still the GNX, especially for an 80's American car. For Japanese I would have to say the Corolla GTS and for European I would say the Porsche 959. So how about you guys any favorites from back then?

Id have to say identical to yours but throw in a Quattro for more european flavor.
I owned this one for 4 years.
Yeah I loved the Quattro coupe but the 959 just beat it out for the Euro part. Though of course the Quattro is of course more obtainable.
The GLH needs to be on the list for it's GRM factor.
288 GTO is my favorite, but 944 is the one in my garage for a reason.
The '84 911 SC/RS
Wide body NA 3.0L.

Easy! Mazda RX-7 Turbo II.
I am also partial to the E21 Alpina cars.
Like this one - preferably 2.0L
Or in Group 5 Production trim
I was going to say they didn't make any real cars in the 80's but after looking at the pics, I guess they did make a few.
I've never driven them, much less owned them, but a Celica All-Trac or an MR-2. And while they are really a car of the '70s, the last Triumph TRs were sold in 1980/1981.
America: 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT. Which I guess says a lot about how I feel about 1980's American cars.
Japan: Mazda RX-7 Turbo II. Duh.
Europe: Ur-Quattro
That was back in the era when "they" got all the cool cars and we got the turds.
GNX, Twentieth Anniversary Turbo Trans AM, Monte Carlo SS, AMC Eagle wagon, Fiero, C4 Vette, E30 M3, E28 M5, Ferrari 308 gts, E21's although I consider them cars of the 70's, both of mine have been 80's models.
RX7 TII, 240SX (although the 'good' KA motor was not available till 1990), MR2 and Ferrari 308. I wasn't big on US muscle cars but the GNX is right up there too. The Starlet ended its run in the 1980's but fits in there too, last of the fun to drive RWD econoboxes. It's no mistake that all my favorites are RWD or mid engine.
Godzilla.
Then the Sierra Cosworth RS
GLHS omni, 500sec Amg(widebody, 6.0 32v, getrag 5 speed, recaros, etc), and maserati quattroporte. There aren't really any Japanese cars I like that much.
Well, every car I have owned but two are/were from the '80s, so I guess that shows where I am.
But I really dig the homologation specials, especially the RWD Group B brutes
Opel Manta 400i. This is the one I would bring over to Canada if I had the cake.
MK2 Supra
Porsche 930
Ferrari 308 GTS
Late C3 Corvette
Volvo 745 Turbo
Edit: most of the cars from the Cannonball Run movies
Well these are in my driveway now
'87 Daytona Pacifica (this photo is from when my buddy in TX still owned it)
Daytona is still my favorite from the '80's.
The silver goes to my '89 Shelby Dakota:
And the bronze to the '87 Comanche waiting for me to figure out what I'm doing with it. The 2.5 needs a cam. Would be a nice shop truck if I get time to fix it.
I don't have a picture of mine anywhere, so here's this:
