Trying to troubleshoot a connection issue on a Cisco 2811 Router...anyone strong on these?

Whoa, Cisco? You're on your own man. Better call support

No, I did some desktop support and I'm a programmer, but have never really worked on networking equipment.

Do you have any free 16+ port gig ethernet rackmount switches? I'm looking for a 16 or 24 port (cheap to free hopefully) for my house.

I just signed up for CCNA classes, I may be able to help in a few months .

What is going on?

I've got a 2811 whose configs match all my other 2600's (8 others)

however, T1 traffic is working between my core router and the new 2811.

2811 can ping core and anything on the far side. (from the CLI)

Far side can ping and gain CLI access to the router

I can not access anything on the LAN side of the 2811, nor can anything on that LAN access anything else.

I can email configs of CORE, 2811 and a working 2600 if anyone can help me out

Is the default gateway set to the T1 interface on the 2811?
Are you using any VLANs?

I'm no where close to being certified, but check your usage of Spanning Tree (STP - has tripped me up more than once...), like rmarkc said, are u using other vlans other than the default? And b/c I have done this too, check to make sure all of your internal ports that you have connections for are enabled and then check physical layer. Alot of times its the easy stuff we overlook that gets us.

Good luck.

Yes....on both

vlan 10 = data vlan 20 = voice

does the 2811 require access rules? none of my 2600's do

configs seem identical otherwise.

Isn't there some type of VLAN encapsulation you have to configure to get VLAN data to traverse a WAN connection? I seem to remember there was something you needed to do to keep the VLAN tagging intact.

will my Switch need to have the Vlans configured before anything will be accessed?

the encapsulation is matching the other routers

I think the switch will need the VLANS configured too.

You mentioned that anything on the LAN side of the 2811 can reach each other but nothing else so you may have found the problem.

Quietly shut the door and leave it alone.
