That colour? I borrowed one for a track day story at Mosport, didn't want to give it back. I loved, loved, loved that car.

It's a 2001-05, actually. With the 16" wheels, big brakes and underbody bracing

That's what Elvis looked like Before.

Lesley, post as much of your work as you want. It's so well done. Do you ever put them against backgrounds as part of a scene, or is it usually just the car in isolation?

Can't help but notice you're still here and he ain't...or is he? Perhaps we can apply a little "persuasion"...(where's the "evil grin" icon?)

Lesley, you've got some big cred here...the Dak ought to be proof to anyone that posting your work here is definitely no canoe trip for you.

Yeh, didn't have fog lights in 99. And my wheels are the 14" standards thought I did run a set of polished 15" wheels for a while. Didn't know about the big brakes and bracing. Was that part of a sport package or are you just mentaly adding FM parts.

Thanks guys.... yes, sometimes I include backgrounds, but the "AutoBiography" work is for a regular newspaper column profiling a specific car or human icon. For the "24 Hours of LeMans" there were several cars against a race scene backdrop. Usually the time factor means I have to streamline it too. The best part of drawing/writing this feature is that there are absolutely no restrictions. It's totally up to me who/what I choose. Which means some of the threads on here can inspire a piece. I always figger, that if I think it's cool and want to read about it, chances are that other people will too!

I've seen the Mighty Dak in action on the track and at a very tight autocross course. It's surprising how well Lesley makes it work, plus it just sounds awsome.

I love you guys

Poor Mighty is in the backyard, buried in snow. He's been hibernating for about a year now, waiting for balljoints. Since he's going for surgery anyway, I thought I'd make it worthwhile and get new control arms (3" drop with correct geometry so he doesn't keep eating his vital parts). He still sounds pretty awesome, once in a while I just have to fire him up, just to hear that thumpy cam.

I want a lady who likes cars. I keep having to tell mine I'm "keeping the battery charged" whenever I feel like listening to one..

Good luck with the front end, Leslie. Do you have a warm place to work, or do you have to wait for the thaw? I guess adjusting the ride height without the aftermarket arms is what ate the balljoints in the first place?

The stock 16" wheels first showed up in 2001. They were always packaged with the bigger brakes and the factory bracing. Plus the headlight and grille shape says 2001.

Winter's no reason not to work on cars! I dragged Basil (my Land Rover) out of a barn in early January and brought him back to life in my driveway over the next four months. I froze myself to the driveway rebuilding the front wheel bearings at 11 pm in February.

I want to see more of Lesley's work!
