Would you do it? One of my best friend's girlfriends has some business to attend to up there and she insisted we make a group trip up there b/c a lot of us have never been and says we all will love it. My only problem is A) The date B) It falls on a football weekend C) Challenge Car may not be done yet.
Would you do it? I've never been, been to the state of New york countless times, just never the city. I'm sure it'll prolly be one of the safest dates to fly, I'm just weird and don't like the thought.
go for it. it would not bother me. I fly to LaGuardia on 9/14
If you find yourself on 2nd ave. about two blocks from the UN building, have a cocktail on Ian.

reasons B and C are not really big enough to keep one from visiting NYC for the first time with good friends. besides, first couple games of the season are usually against crap teams like UCF or something, and usually a blowout( i keed, really). reason A is a nonissue since everyone will probably be on high alert.

Well, New York was founded in 1625 and there has been a "9/11" every year since then. Only one of those days had a major terrorist attack, which means that 383/384=99.74% of them were perfectly safe to fly into the city on. I wouldn't be too worried.

Flying to NYC on 09/11/09 is a great way to honor those who died on 09/11/01.
And its' a great "slap in the face" gesture towards those who would hope people are still too intimidated to fly on that day.
Go. You won't regret it.
I was always anti-NYC but then I went. I get back there once a year now.
Do it wearing American Flag boxers Rocky Balboa style and glare triumphantly at the world.
thats no reason not to go.
the only reason I can think of to not go is that I don't like New York, I grew up a small town kid.
I say do it. My wife and I visited New York for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We had fun, it's certainly a place that you need to see at some point in your life. Of course, we are small town folks, too, so I don't feel a need to return, but I'm glad I saw it.

We may make a trip at the same time. Looking at the rates by day it seems it's a bit cheaper to fly on 9/11. Probably for the same reasons above. I'd do it without thinking twice myself.
And as far as the calculations of risk of flying on 9/11, you really should only include the last 80 or so years. I'm guessing flying into NYC in 1650 would actually be pretty dangerous (depending on how you ended up flying)!
No real reason to go to NY now. I always wanted to go to see Les Paul play at the Iridium but that ain't gonna happen now.....................

I have done a lot of jobs in NYC and the surrounding areas.. I still love going there.
well we decided to road trip it because one of the friends has never been out of the state so he gets to see GA, SC, NC, Virginia, DC, Maryland (stopping to see my bro on the way), PA, NJ, and NYC all in one trip
Of course you should come. Where else would you see this http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a02_1250531965
If you arrive on the 11th you may try and time it so you get here in the evening. There will be some street closures in the morning for the rememberance ceremony or whatever they call it this year, and in the afternoon you will have friday traffic.
If you end up on the Lower East Side stop by and say hi. I'm at the corner of Houston and Allen streets until about 11pm most nights.

shame all he will see of NJ is the turnpike... on the way home, hit the garden state parkway (I live at exit 25) and then take the Ferry to Deleware from Cape may. Then take 13 down to the Chesepake bay bridge tunnel and pick up 95 in Virgina...
I think since we are driving now we will get there the 10th, since me and another kid are gonna take full responsibility of the driving duties. I don't trust the other three coming and the co-driver is from the Bronx so yea.
If time permits we may take the scenic way home, I've done the whole Delaware slide down to the Chesapeake bay bridge, pretty cool, but these are city folk not suburban like me lol.
I wouldn't sweat it. I'd join ya, but I'm flying to San Diego on that date
oh annd umm we are driving a Hummer H2 up there LMAO!

Cool, make sure you stop by City Island to get some seafood. And Little Italy (Artur Ave) to get some pastries

Meh, it doesn't matter what they take. Once they're in New Jersey, they might as well be walking. Traffic sucks. Who thought it would be a good idea to merge 9 lanes of traffic into 4 at the same exact time? Ask New Jersey.
