Here we go again! A few members and I put together a simple class to bring the legendary battle between the STi and the EVO to the game consoles near you. Here are the rules of the class if you wish to participate.
These rules are to be followed strictly if you wish to participate - similar to Spec Mini Cooper S that we were all running a while back. If the rules say to do it, you must do it. If they don't mention something, it's because you can't do it to your car (for example, I will say little about engine upgrades because we do not allow them). Your car will end up being an A753 whether you go with the EVO or STi.
The cars:
Either the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX Sti (it MUST be this model and year!)
Or the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR (it also must match this year and model perfectly - other EVOs will not be allowed!).
For the Subaru:
Brakes: Level 1 upgrade
Suspension: Level 1 upgrade
Interior: Level 3 upgrade (maximum level - with cage and all)
Tires: Must be race compound and must be Toyos! We all run the exact same tire.
Tires - Width: Level 1 upgrade. The STi is allowed a tire width upgrade to match the EVO. This was necessary to make the car competitive. The EVO cannot change the tire width!
Lancer Evolution:
Brakes: Level 1 upgrade
Suspension: Level 1 upgrade
Interior: Level 3 upgrade (maximum level here again)
Tires: Must be race compound and must be Toyos! We all run the exact same tire.
Tires - Width: STOCK (this was necessary to ensure that both cars have the same tires on them)
The EVO has a funny 5-speed transmission that might be misleading when you drive it. However, the car seems to be able to run almost identical times as the STi, so we are not allowing drivetrain upgrades right now.
I hope there is interest in this series. I have both cars built for testing purposes, but you can build your favorite one or both, it doesn't matter. If everyone shows up with the EVO, we might ask a few to build STis (and vice versa). Is anyone here interested at all? My gamertag on X-Box Live is the same as my screen name here. Maybe we can start tonight? If there are issues with one car being dominant, we can always tweek the modifications allowed. The upgrades are basic so that the cars are more or less the same - this makes the racing more competitive.
