Today's high was 20f in Detroit. Currently 13f. I just opened a bottle of Founders Porter that has been on the back porch, poured it in to my Pewabic Pottery stoneware pint glass and enjoyed a deep draw of porter slushy. Nice!

Single digits this morning, kegerator in my unheated barn was frozen tonight - its 8.2% space dust, was looking forward to a truly ice cold beer.
1st world problems I know.
Ok northerners who hasn’t placed some beer in a snow bank to keep it cold only to end up with a beer slushy or worse?
This is why the plastic bottle or flask is with us.
Back in my university days, a half century ago, I would bring cases of Molson Export quarts from my home in Quebec to school in Ottawa as quarts were a novelty to the Ontario kids. The bottles would be mixed brown or green glass. I stored the beer between the apartment's double windows for a party one night and one colour froze, while the other didn't. I can't remember which colour froze either, it was a long time ago.
