Mods - let me know if this needs to be a paid GRM advertisment.
Urgent Field Support, the department that kb58 used to work in, and that I work in now, needs some more engineers.
You'll be solving problems on a tight schedule, often without full information, and trying to get aircraft to complete their missions. This sometimes reminds me of getting a project car done.
Location is Poway, CA, outside San Diego. We pay well, but you do face occasional weeklong stints of 24-7 on-call.
You'll need at least ten years of experience as an engineer (mechanical/electrical preferred but almost any engineering discipline will work) and be able to obtain a security clearance (US citizen, clean criminal record).
Define Clean Criminal Record. That 2 page driving record back in the 70's? That one time in Odessa, Missouri in the 1980's?
Too bad it's in California. Now, if you wanted to move the company to Ohio.......
In reply to VolvoHeretic :
No felonies, no more than one misdemeanor conviction with jail time in the past decade - you'll have to get a Secret rather than Top Secret/SCI clearance.
In reply to triumph7 :
I can see not wanting to sell a mostly-paid-for house in Ohio to move here, but I will point out that we had a frost-free winter and there are three mountains in this suburb that you can see the ocean from.
maaaan, this is my job!
but the location...
is there ANY chance this could be supported from Europe?

Now is that suspected of a felony or convicted ?
Who am I kidding I don't have an engineering degree. A move to California wouldn't actually kill me though. The rules there are brutal but the mouse is there and the mouse shall save us all.
Define "pays well"
San Diego is awesome, but it sure isn't cheap!

Than I'm good to go except that I couldn't figure out Calculus derivatives and never became an engineer.
In reply to Mndsm :
Convicted. Accused doesn't count.
In reply to 93gsxturbo :
$140k per year for minimum qualifications and experience needed to do the Engineer 5 job, more if you have more. The right early-career candidate could get in at Engineer 3 or 4 level, but the breadth of different systems and problems usually calls for more seniority.
Got one applicant so far - keep the resumes coming!
