Every time I see a commercial for the new Star Wars "movie," I've started singing along with the frantic "dootdoot doodoodoo" music, adding the words "SELL THE VIDEO GAME! SELL THE VIDEO GAME! SELL THE VIDEO GAME! SELL THE VIDEO GAME! SEEEEEEELLLLLLLL THE VIDEOGAAAAAAAAAME!"
It's fun. You should try it. Berkeley George Lucas and Schpielberg.
If I'd known George Lucas was going to crap on my youth I never would have let him be a part of it.

Luckily I managed to avoid thinking that Star Wars was the coolest thing evAr. I think it was the Ewoks that showed me the real Lucas.
HA as soon as I opened this thread that commercial came on...
See I loved Star Wars and Indiana Jones when I was a kid. Laser rifles, lightsabers, bull whips and kickin Nazi butt great entertainment...I had high hopes when the new Star Wars movies were released, they sucked, I regained hopes that the new Indy movie would at least be good...yeah well it failed miserably.
I thought I read somewhere that this new movie was some kind of lead in for a StarWars based TV show. You know, kind of like Buck Rogers in the 25th Century...
"bede bede bede"
then again, there was something that I liked about that show, I just can't seem to figure it out...
You need to watch all 6 SW movies from Episode 1. It becomes a different story. If you watch them how they were released, 4-6, 1-3, then they are the story of Luke Skywalker. If you watch them 1-6, they become the story of Anakin Skywalker.
Problem is, the story of Anakin Skywalker is draggy, annoying, and full of really bad dialogue. The story of Luke Skywalker is much more entertaining, and only partially full of bad dialogue.
I still think the best 2 parts of the new movies was the lightsaber battle involving Yoda
Either direction you watch them, the order remains
Good, Better, SUCK, Good, Better, SUCK
I disagree.
If you watch them 4-5-6-1-2-3 you get
Really good, Awesome, Meh, Major Suck, Better but still sucking, Meh.

Wow, I actually thought 1 was half decent... anyway, we differ only in details

The only reason you need to dislike number 1
By the end of 1 I wanted to blow out either my brains or Jar-Jar's. [edit: I posted this before rebelgtp's post, but he's right on target.] OTOH, I sort of liked 3.
Episode 2 did at least explain Leah's comment about Luke's height in 4.
Episode 3 would have been a lot better if they had condensed the first hour of the movie into 15 minutes and expanded the last 20 minutes into an hour. I'm still not exactly sure how/why Anakin went from being a little on the whiny side to slaughtering Jedi kindergarteners.

What are you guys talking about? Star Wars "episode 1, 2, and 3"? I've never heard of such a thing! Stop making stuff up.
Everyone knows Star Wars starts at episode 4 and ends at 6. It's like the way the Highlander films are numbered I and III with nothing in between.

May I humbly disagree, Dr. Hess.
Either way you watch it, Star Wars is Obi Wan's story. Show me a plot point in any of the six that doesn't have Obi Wan at its root.
Star Wars is R2-D2's and C3P0's story. R2-D2 started that E36 M3 off.

Thought of logically, you are absolutely correct- the only characters in all 6 stories?
R2-D2, C3PO, and Anakin. Well, ObiWan, if his ghost counts... Even Yoda, all 900 years old he reach, not all 6 does he in appear...
A good movie with Liam Neeson is Taken, 2008. It's an action movie like the way Steven Segal movies used to be when he was in his prime. Neeson goes through bad guys like a light saber through droids. I suspect it will be one of those direct-to-DVD's, but it's worth watching.

DING! Winner!
I thought the saga was supposed to be about the fall and eventual redemption of a hero, not some stupid intergalactic zoning dispute
Also, I'd have to say that Star Wars 1-3 was the primary force behind me not heading out to Indy IV opening weekend. After Lucas raping my childhood in his garage I couldn't bear to have Speilberg drive me home while eyeing me like a piece of meat.
What happened to these guys?

P.S. EDIT: Doc, I think Taken is getting wide release in Europe. Hopefully if it does well we'll get it either soon after in theaters or an early DVD date.
the dork factor is very high in this thread

I'm posting with a parrot on my shoulder. I win.

I'm more for the space ship battle sceens that the light saber fights, so that alone killed off 1-3. IMHO, Serenity had better space sceens than 3.
Return of the Jedi will always be my favorite. I mean, how many other boys got their first hard on from Leah in the Gold Bikini?
semi O/T, but in terms of geek, my Sci Fi dvd wallet/case goes;
Star wars 1-6(4-6 are the sets that include the originalversions, ie, non-'97 berkeley ups),
Firefly/Serenity,
Stargate SG-1, seasons 1-10, plus the 2 direct to DVD follow up movies.
Fools. All of you. Star Wars 4-6 is the story of Han Solo.
Han shot first!
You may be right. Think how much better 1-3 would have been with some sort of han-like character.
