Daikaiju, one of the most weird bands I have ever seen, is starting another tour. They're skipping Florida, so you guys need to go for me: https://www.facebook.com/godaikaiju
Here's a sample, although our experience had more fire, making out on stage, moving instruments to another part of the venue mid-concert, and then just walking out the door and leaving the audience to finish the show for them: https://youtu.be/r5ghv5RBd-Y
I've been a huge Daikaiju fan for years. For me, they were a gateway drug to my favorite band of all time, Man or Astroman.
I'll have to check to see if they're coming anywhere close to me this time around. Seems like they are always in South America and Japan.
MoAM? is amazing--first started seeing them right around graduation, which was 1992. Mind blown. Blown. We used to hang out with them after shows, too, and for a while there at least their trailer carried a GRM sticker. (I was freelancing then.)
Coco/Rob is a car guy, too. We last saw them a year or so ago--more amazing shows. So happy to see them have fans far and wide.

In reply to David S. Wallens:
So they're like Japanese prog-noise rock?
I think I'd dig it live, but I can't say I'd listen to it. It's pretty brutal (in a good way, though).
Pretty sure they're really from Alabama--just like MoAM?
And I wouldn't call Daikaiju prog-noise. Musically, it's fairly much surf music. It was just the entire package, and the Kabuki masks were the least of it.
Somewhere near the start of the show a young lady joined them on stage and totally sucked face with the lead guitarist. Her S.O. was not amused.
Then the band removed all of their instruments from the stage and set them up in the adjoining room--all without missing a beat, I should add.
Somewhere afterward the drums were set on fire.
Then the band just left--so the audience started banging on their instruments. My friend Lewis kept the beat on a drum. (He's musical.)
We're pretty sure they only played three songs. It was about an hour of music but, still, like three songs.
I'd go see them again.

I get the surf association, but the riffs are very 70's proggy--and there's plenty of dissonance going on. Methinks they defy classification.
Good that they're doing something strange and they have an audience, though. The world needs weird, artsy, performance are-type bands.
Well if you want weird, there's always Mac Sabbath.

That sounds rather amusing.
