You can now search new and used car inventory nationwide. I don't know where it's pulling info from - dealer sites? - but it's a pretty good way to quickly search for specific vehicles.

Can your friend Frenchy search for Jaguars?

Dealers feed inventory to them, just like they do to AutoTrader, Cars.com, etc.

There doesn't appear to be a filter for transmission type or driven wheels.

It's in the "specifications" filter drop down.

I was incorrect.  Just had to dig down another layer to get them to sort.  Its more useful now.

This is going to result in me procuring a 3 door echo hatchback with a manual transmission. I don't know whether to curse you or to thank you.

I'd keep using it. The Google search seems to only be dealer listings, whereas Autotempest searches all kinds of places.

Yes, but I just checked... I searched 2000-2003 Jaguar XJRs and one showed up 100 miles away.  I know there are three for sale within 40 miles of me on used lots, so it missed them.  Not sure where google is getting their info, but I'll be watching to see how viable this might be.

I also noticed that it only offers you the options based on the previous filters you've selected.  Like if you choose 1998-2003 Ford Crown Vic, there is no V6 button because there aren't any V6 Crown Vics in your area (i.e. they never put a V6 in them.)

I originally chose 2000-2003 Jag > 20 mile radius > and the only models in the dropdown were X-type and S-type.  If I opened the search to any distance, the model dropdown included XJ, XJR, etc.

Only open to franchise dealers at the moment. It's also pretty expensive, $7500 a month to be there.

I'm watching for an ND RF, and since they're all fairly new it's well tuned for that. But if I was looking for an NA, it wouldn't work as well.

There can be surprises. Click through to the dealer on this one.

Um, yeah, if I had the spare cash laying about that one would be in my garage.

Google tested this years ago and killed it, but I guess it is back. When I worked at AutoTrader this exact thing is what the execs feared Google would do. No need for a car listing site when Google can do it. The dealers were already spending money on Google ads for their dealerships, so this just cut out the middle man. If this takes off and I worked at AutoTrader or Cars.com, I'd be nervous.

I'm sure pretty much any niche that involves data aggregation, especially for the public, is worried that Google will notice them.
