I got one of these for christmas and I was wondering if anyone else had used one yet, and if they have any tips or impressions. I guess the new HD models have only been out for a month or two, so most of the forum chatter is about the older non-hd models, and it seems like the new one has addressed the common problems with the old unit (sound, low light quality, battery life, etc). I'm pretty excited to try it out, the demo videos I have seen look great.

have you noticed ... demo vids always look great... but I bet the HD version will be a hit... within it's limitations the original ones weren't that bad

Yeah, I've only seen a few vids that weren't from GoPro, but this one is from an early customer and looks pretty impressive (even though the vid itself is boring as hell, I don't know if I could handle living out in the flatlands like that). Hopefully I can post up my own test vids soon, once we get a day that isn't quite so gray.

I use the early version in my RX7 racecar and am pretty happy with it. The sound is not good and you have to remember to charge the batteries for each use or it may die on you mid session. I think the video quality is fine and have seen no problems with low light. For the price I don't think you can go wrong. The only thing I find is a real weakness is the need to start the camera and then slip it into the mount. Mine is mounted on the dashboard.

I've got a few in-car spec miata videos up on youtube from my first gen model. Look for racerfink. No problem with lighting or sound, and with a fresh set of batteries, it'll go 1 hour.

It seems like all the major issues anyone has brought up about the old model have been fixed in the new one. It has a rechargeable battery that should last a lot longer than the old AAAs. It charges on USB, which is nice because I can plug in one of my 12v adapters and charge on the way to an event (unfortunately it doesn't seem to let you charge while using it, it locks out the buttons when it's plugged in). I am not familiar with the older model's protective case, but this one has buttons through the case so you don't have to unmount it to start it. I do wish the recording light was on the back of the unit, though - it might be hard to see that once I'm strapped in the seat.

I just got the regular one. A short trip around my living room proved that it will be more than up to the task of handling my motorsports needs. And the suction cup, when attached to the outside of my mom's Yaris' windshield as a test could pull the berkeleying car.

I'm excited to get a memory card and try her out next spring.

i've heard nothing but great things about them... I want the HD Wide Angle on however and finding one in stock seems to be the big problem now.

Aside from motorsports, i'm excited to use it for skiing, rafting, kayaking, mtn biking, and other outdoor adventures.
