Got a broken wrench and no way to open that cold beer?

I've used a lighter and my knuckles on several occasions.

My favorite opener is a hunk of wood with a flanged sheet metal screw mounted near one end. It pops caps with little to no effort and doesn't damage the caps.

I learned the fulcrum lighter trick last summer and since learned how to do it with my wedding band, but the wife doesn't approve..but basically, put your finger over the cap sliding it between your finger and the ring, then pry. it works like a charm and didn't hurt my ring the few times I did it, but it's titanium and was already pretty scratched

Another tool-free method is to simply lay the edge of the cap against a corner of your bench, then give it a downwards whack with your palm. *Best not done when entirely inebriated, lest you squeeze the neck of the bottle too hard, slip, gash your finger pretty nicely, wrap it up with cloth and electrical tape, continue drinking, then wake up with it still bleeding, eventually leaving a permanent scar.

I just carry a bottle opener on my key chain now.

This reminded me of something I completely forgot......door latch on a miata works great as a bottle opener.

I use an e30 door latch, or in a pinch, my wedding ring. Come to think of it... It is the only use I've found for it in 16 years.

I turned a bottle opener into a 1/2" box wrench in an emergency. Now I see that I have my priorities backwards

time to go buy a cheap-o wrench set...

this is true, i talked to him about it once. dude is nuts, but has a hell of a brain for baseball and knows the game as well as anyone, and i've had some good conversations with current MLB coaches about it.

There's a lip along the bottom edge of the dashboard on an early Land Rover that is perfect for popping tops. On the Range Rover classic, I believe the rear bumper is the correct location. Harder to drink and drive that way, I guess.

For awhile, a few small mtn bike builders incorporated a bottle opener into their frames.

I have a Swiss army knife with me at all times (when allowed).

^Vicious Cycles comes to mind. You can also get headset spacer bottle openers.

If you aren't using both bottle cage positions on your bike, you can always mount one of the Pedros bottle openers in the unused spot, the mounting holes line up perfectly.

No braze-on s on the big hit - dammit.

Surly's chain tugs have bottle openers on them, but that seems a but unsanitary to me.

Maybe a seat rail bottle bracket and my currently unmounted STARR "X" opener will work? What's a bit more weight on a big hit?

Edit - turns out my multi-tool has a bottle opener on it.

Edit #2 - Took a Ruthless Rye to the basement to look for existing bike components that work. My wellgo (I know...) D10 SPD pedal clip works great. I guess I'll keep them :D
