Good lord! Do you really hate The Who that much to force a VW V10 TDI down the poor ex-drummer's throat. That would be a hangin' offense in some states. I'd put a LS in a Mopar before a VAG engine... and I own a VW diesel...
Otherwise... congrats on the new job!
If their superbowl performance was any indication, he might be better served by a trailer for his hoover-round than for a motorcycle. Also, go ahead and put auto-cancelling blinkers in, or else he'll be turning left for the next 500 miles.
if i show up in my SS while you're working do i get a shop tour?
at least he would be "guilty" of having used his blinkers .... parking/turn signal bulbs around here have a half life that rivals that of Plutonium

Nah, you're looking at this all wrong. Curtis is our undercover agent. He's on a secret mission to inject some of the GRM craziness into the mainstream of car culture.

There's GRM craziness and there's just plain cruelty. Convincing some poor unsuspecting SOB to put a VAG V10 TDI into their car would rank high on the "cruel" side.
I think I have seen some of their work at the Starlight Car Cruise in Wexford. Great work from what I have seen, enjoy.

BTW, that's a REALLY aggressive stance.
You can get that same stance on an old Land Rover if it has a rusted frame and you take the roof off. The whole truck cracks in half.
A lot of hot rod guys did that to add caster angle to the steering back in the day. Dry lakes cars and such where going in a straight line is important, and turning is less so
I think I liked it better without paint.

I know I did....that's why I posted the other one first. If they had a side shot in primer, you never would have seen me post the boyd-ish paint and chrome version....just not my thing.
The metal work on the front finders, though.....top notch.
Thank you all for the kind words. I take my tools up tomorrow and get greasy on Weds. I'm so stoopid excited I put a new bamboo worktop on my toolbox.
(P.S. prefinished bamboo flooring is on sale at HD for $1.99/sf)
That is sweet!!!! I am going to do that to my two box's

you just changed my life. I've wanted a bamboo top for my box for a while, now I know how to get it without spending $1000 at snap on!
I got the traditional ribbing today from the guys at the shop... new chinese tool box, new bamboo, yeah. The guy who's starting with me has an old snap on box from the 70s and he was a hero. The guys practically dropped their tools just to look at his classic box.

It was so easy. I scuffed and cleaned the top of the box, cut boards to length, glued it down with liquid nails, and it works great. It actually was the right width as well. I just had to rip the tongue off the last board and it fit perfectly.
The stuff I got at HD is solid bamboo, not laminate. On sale for $1.99.

Well, I'm sure you expected that. I know the proof will be in the wrenching, but I'm guessing when you start making some money, you'll be trolling CL for a use box? :evil
That's a great idea for a box/bench top. I don't need one now, but I may run down and pick some up for when I do.
Not that anyone really cares about these photos, but I found it fun that we filled a 6x8 trailer with our boxes and filled the back of my cargo van with the drawers and extra tools. Didn't think my trailer tires would make it, especially when I aired them up I could see the cracks expanding in the sidewalls.

Truth be told, I must be really hard on rolling boxes. I've had Craftsman, Blue Point, Matco, Harbor Freight, Husky, and every one in between. The sliders fail on all of them, and even all the big names like SnapOn and Mac no longer warranty drawer sliders.
I was joking with my buddy today about his SnapOn box from 1978. He bought it as a repo in 1982. I joked, "... and its probably almost paid off, right?" He sheepishly said "a few years ago." AND his sliders are all toast. I figure if I'm going to go through drawer sliders every few years, why buy a $10,000 box when I can buy a $400 box from HF?
As a joke, I'm going to remove the USGeneral tags from mine and get some that say "SnapOff."

Hmm... makes sense. Being an amateur, I'm pretty easy on my stuff. My friction-slider Craftsman box is almost 20 years old and other than a couple of the over-loaded drawers (socket drawer and suspension tool drawer) they sliders are fine. Even the overloaded ones work OK, it just takes a bit of effort to and open and close them.
For the shop, I actually plan to build a box out of wood.
So how is the crew and the job so far?

Five years as a millwright hauling hundreds and hundreds of pounds of 3/4 and 1 inch drive sockets around the nastiest parts of a dirty old glue factory and it just finished its first year of auto restoration work. The slides still work like new. This harbor freight box is the best bargain on the market. I would use them for kitchen cabinets if I could.
When I started to run out of room I didn't for a second consider taking a second mortgage out on the house for a Snap-on. I marched down and dropped the 179 for the side cab and am fine until I buy one for the other side.
