Since you guys seem to appreciate old and different stuff, I thought I would share my latest toy with you. The guy I got it from says it is a 1940s era Schwinn. The engine kit is one of the cheap ones off e-bay. The tank is custom made out of sheet metal. The guy that built is did a pretty good job. It is a lot of fun to ride.
Thanks! It will fit right in at the antique engine and tractor shows some friends and I display at. I wish I could say I built it my self, but it never occurred to me that old bikes were this cool until I saw this one.

You should submit it for the GRM Pit bike feature, that they do in the magazine.
thats a really nice bike. Schwinn really had it right back in the day before Wallyworld (read "Pacific" brand...ruiner of all things human powered and 2 wheeled) got their hands on it and turned it into the current POS that it is now
Wow, you don't notice it's a bicycle conversion until you see the pedals!
But, is that a totally solid fork?
Its a springer fork...if you look at the axle mounting tabs, theres pivots there, and a spring up in front of the steer tube...very good design.
That is pretty sweet.
How does the engine engagement work? Can you start the engine by locking the rear hub while coasting (or turning the pedals) or is it two completely separate drive sets inside?
Looks like an old board track racer from the 20's.

It has two chains, one to the pedals and one to the engine. The engine has a clutch with the lever on the LH handle bar. The clutch will lock disengaged. Throttle is on the right. To start the engine you pedal up to speed and dump the clutch and off you go. Top speed is about 20 or so. The brakes are the hub brake so you pedal backwards to engage them. They kind of suck if you need to stop in a hurry. It is a hoot to ride and really gets some strange looks when riding around the neighborhood.
