Agreed! That one is unforgettable, especially after watching it live on "Delicate Sounds of Thunder". It's probably to simple to get most bass lovers attention but it just drives the whole song.

hungry wolf - X has a good bass riff
eaton rifles - the jam
Here's a good one. Alphonso Johnson playing Bahama Mama live with Billy Cobham, Tom Scott, and Steve Kahn:

If we're discussing bass in Jam songs, how can we leave out Town Called Malice.
And, while we're at it, I loves me some Rickenbacker bass. What a great sound:
Stuart Zender is a fantastic bassist. He played on the first Jamiroquai albums. His replacements after that were solid but nowhere as good as him.

Forgot about that one. I wanted my bass to sound like that.
Another killer riff, Soundgarden, Loud Love...

I added the link to the OP, but here is is again. Sorry I forgot it!
100 Famous Bass Lines
I can't believe I neglected to mention Carol Kaye. Just look at everything she played on!
So there's a Nirvana song with a great bass riff but you don't want to have to deal with the heartache of being forced to listen to a Nirvana song.
Worry no longer. The Kleptones has got your back:

More or less five minutes of the bass from "On A Plain" with variosu other songs over it. One of my favoritest things ever.
"We switched 'round and round 'til half past dawn,
there was fifty-seven channels and nothin' on..."
And we shall pass over the Radar Love, and we shall ignore the Riders on the Storm, because those are pretty much givens when it comes to good bass riffs. Bells has been mentioned, as has Orion.
Anything by Black Sabbath. Because Black Sabbath, as is common knowledge, has made every riff already, and they have traditionally make the bass prominent in the audio mix. (Examples: Paranoid, NIB, Children of the Grave... okay everything they made ever)
Yeah, the guy who replaced Cliff sucked, even though he was there through all the gold records.

Too bad they replaced him with that cave troll from Suicidal Tendencies.
Group therapy is so metal...

i might have missed it, but has Rex Brown been mentioned yet? he's not flashy, but anyone that can play along with the grooves of Vinnie and the riffs of Dimebag and not get lost in the background has got to be pretty decently ok:

Just listening to this album today, and I've always thought this song had a really cool bass line. Not complex or difficult, just cool:
Eno/Byrne - "Regiment"
Most of the bass on this album is pretty good.
Jeez, this thread makes me want to break out my old 5-string and Hartke amp and join a band again.
Also, my contribution to this thread is "Panic Attack" by Dream Theater.
