No 4th of July thread?
Happy birthday America. Tough times, but we're all here and I hope however you are all celebrating you'll have a great time.
Lets all celebrate our similarities and leave our differences behind.
Love to everyone who's here today.

Indeed! Enjoy the day, have some festivities, and remember and celebrate the ideals on which this great nation was founded!
And try to make sure you keep all your fingers.
And toes, too, I guess. But at least you can cover that up easily with a shoe.
Hope everybody has a safe and joyous day. Please take a moment to think what this day means and what has transpired so we can live the way we live today.

We celebrated yesterday. Weather was perfect. Had about 40+ over. Kids had a ball, swimming, fishing, cruising on the boat, Parents acted like kids, and grandparents enjoyed seeing everyone having fun.
I picked the wrong beers, I got what others suggested and it was super cold but at the end of the day it was still all in the cooler. Not being a beer drinker I have no idea of what to do with it now.
Today it's rain all day. Nobody is out on the lake. If they do have fireworks , with the low cloud cover nobody will see them.
But I second the idea of quiet reflection on what our forefathers created when they wrote the Declaration of Independence.
Lately it seems like the old girl has been taking a lot of hits. It almost makes me miss all the bandwagon patriots that showed up after 9/11. But then again, those are probably the same folks throwing stones these days. For all it's issues, there's still no place I'd rather live.

Happy hard separation from your former home... lol.
We are celebrating all weekend- a parade in Tapiola Saturday, fireworks in Baraga last night, and a wet family get together today.

Having friends over this evening for cocktails and a fire. No fireworks. There'll be enough in the neighborhood. We will send off a large Chinese lantern after dark.
Happy 4th yinz.
Have a beer, have a hot dog, blow some stuff up, stay safe.

Happy 4th. I'm surprised/disappointed a little, I was expecting a snarky dig when I saw the thread.
I've got ribs in the smoker and pork belly in the sous vide, the fire pit is filling up. Had the neighborhood party Saturday so I think we'll be light on the pyrotechnics this evening.
Baby back ribs for dinner. I was going to get over to the range but ran out of time getting things done around the house.
Happy 4th everyone!!!

I'm just working trying to make sure you have a chance at having some ice to cool down your beer. This holiday wears me out.
Took the Cayman for a spin today down Route 1A in NH. Beautiful cruise. Then an early dinner on a deck in Dover NH. Then back to my current favorite PUPPIES!!!!
Happy 4th boys and girls.
Know that I love you all. Even when you're wrong.
Our son was on island with us for a couple of days, had my parents over for dinner Saturday night with him and took a boat ride to visit with them for a a couple of hours this afternoon before he headed out. Cocktails on the dock with the bride to watch the sunset. It’s almost 9:00 and we’re still enjoying the afterglow. Peak summer and loving every minute, life is good.
Happy birthday United States and remember that what binds us together is stronger than the forces that would divide us. As has been said elsewhere here be excellent to each other!
Our local town (Ouray, Colorado) really knows how to celebrate the Fourth - foot races, a great parade, BBQ, traditional water fights (you have to be here), concerts, fireworks, military jet flyovers, the whole nine yards, we get around 10,000 people visiting our little town of 1000 every year on this day. Everyone has a great time. BUT - as usual, as I was standing on the steps of our local Elks lodge watching the parade (great vantage point), when the color guard marched by, no more than 1 % or less of the assembled crowd, for as far as I could see, took off their hats. This bothers me every year, and it's across the whole political spectrum. Is this common elsewhere? People should show some respect on this of all days.
Other than that, a great day, as always.
Happy 4th everyone. These 3 day weekends feel shorter every time...

As I mentioned earlier on this thread, we planned to send off a Chinese lantern tonight. We did, and Annie took a video to memorialize the big event. Here are a couple pics from it.
After nearly crashing into an 80 ft. tall oak in our back yard, it slowly gained altitude and headed east towards PVD airport five miles away. I thought we'd get a visit from the FAA, but so far, so good.
