Hi, all:

I have a Samsung 27" HDTV / monitor combo. It's a LT27B350ND/ZA, which is a 1920x1080 27" monitor with a TV tuner, 2 HDMI inputs, and a couple USB slots. I love it and I'd like to have another one just like it, but it's discontinued, even though it still shows up on Samsung's website.

The superseding LT28D310NH/ZA model with a tuner is only 1366x768. The other model(s) that are 1920x1088 don't have a tuner. Is there any other company that makes a similar HDTV / monitor combination?

Also what the difference between a TN LED and other types?

Thanks.

TN vs IPS LED: IPS gives a better image quality, TN is cheaper and uses less power, but has a narrower viewing angle.

OK, thanks. I'm assuming that if I can't get one with a tuner, then I can use it as a TV if I have a cable box with input from the HDMI port.

If it has a tuner, then it is a TV. If it doesn't have a tuner, then it is a monitor and should work fine with whatever box you use to drive it (Whether a PC or a cable box). Just watch out for HDCP, but that's mostly on older models with early versions of the HDMI interface.

Might look online at eBay/CL/ShopGoodwill.com to see if someone is selling one slightly used if that is what you really want.

yup TV tuner is only needed if you plan on pulling from over the air stuff, I was given a sony ps3 3d display by a friend (not working, required soldering in a new eprom to fix)... it is basically a small 3d TV (24") that sony removed the tuner from...

the monitor may or may not have speakers and that would be an important bit... although they prob sound like crap :-/

Well, still looking for a replacement for this unit. I need a tuner because DD#2's dorm room has school-supplied cable, but no set top box. So I guess I need a 27" HDTV that is at least 1920x1080 with an HDMI input from the computer. Any suggestions?

could do a pc tv tuner... would have to have the computer hooked to the monitor for it to work though.
