We close on our 'forever' house on Friday. My wife is a horse vet and I, obviously love cars, albeit no specific models or brands, but do lean towards Fords and my wife loved our now sold Miata.
We have two small kids and a cat. No horses or fun cars, but that will soon change.
We will have a couple of old farm outbuilding, but no old dairy barn or silo. The property has the old farm house thats been updated and two different additions, and although its nice, was not the focus of this purchase. We wanted the 10 acres, 7 of which are farm fields, but no woods.
Enough of the description, here are a couple of our farm names so far:
Runamuck Farm
or
Horsepower Lane
What do thing would be a fun name for our little hobby farm?
How about Home?
Though Horsepower Lane does roll off the tongue nicely.
Anarchy Acres, or. NO TRESPASSING!
Start referring to it as "The Compound."
Interesting. We named our house to denote our little estate. The name resides on a plaque hanging over the entry from the foyer to the great room.
Ty Gwyn (pronounced Tie Gwinn)
I have intended to work up a logo or crest but not done yet just spelled in a script font.
Housey mcHouseface?
On second thought I just named my house that. Never mind you can't use it.
I know someone who calls their hobby farm, Back Acres
I call Aussie Steve's place The Compound on the Curve. Multiple outbuildings on a straight road that actually does have a curve in a county that is completely flat and laid out like a grid. The curve is pretty rare in his area.
Or, I call it the Ohio, Australian Embassy.
Small-Block Farm, Pony Acres, Mustang Ranch, Ranchero de Ross, Falcon's Roost, Comet's Tail...
I think you need a Ranch Name like you might see in a branding iron.
The Bar Z Ranch
Work something up off your last name or wife's name or kids names.
This will yield you a logo too!
Ideas
This site recommends a 3 word formula made up of:
Quirk--Produce--Place.

Belly Acres is taken so you can't use it. How about the song, "I call my shack, break my back."
Can i steal anarchy acres? I like that way more than i should....

Twelvefoot Acres (2 adults, 2 kids, and a cat)
Upson Downs was a family estate in the madcap comedy classic Auntie Mame. Google shows there are a number of apparent TCM watchers using the name in real life.
Plantations have names. Here is a list of US Plantation names that might provide some inspiration.
