Taking a bit longer than three days but he's going to be even bigger and badder (?) than before.

Yay, let's spend a bunch more money that could be put to real use on a stupid statue most of the country will just make fun of.
Maybe as an atheist I'm extra bitter but come on. I know there are plenty of organizations just up the road in Dayton that could use some money. /rant
Does this make him Zombie big butter jesus?

Why does that statue look like a white guy? Wait...That's made of butter?! Wow i'm hungry... I should go fry up some bacon.

Counterpoint: at least they're not spending the money in DC influencing lawmakers.

Counterpoint: Who's the Vice President of the United States?
is it Baconman?
ok ok sorry guys this thread isn't about food and i'm just sidetracking it. I'm gonna go eat something now.
Speaking of food, I had something for lunch yesterday that I never knew existed: chicken-fried-chicken-manhattan. That's right, a battered & fried boneless chicken breast, served on bread and smothered with mashed taters and gravy. I was a little surprised/disappointed it didn't have bacon on it though. In fact, I almost asked if they could add some.

I hear ya, bro. It ain't exactly like the folks at Solid Rock are using that money finding beds for "unwed mothers", building a hostel for homeless folks (I must admit, most of the homeless folks I meet here in Atlanta usually spout crap from Christian mythology when thanking me for the loose change or the cigarettes I gave them) or handing out food to the working poor, is it? All that dough spent to replace "Touchdown Jesus" with "Big Fish Jesus". What a waste.

I'm studying up for next years hot tub inquisition, I'll know the VP's cousins baby sitters, nanny's cat's vet's plumbers middle name and what he likes in his coffee.
I will not hate America next year.

If its not tax payer money WTF do you care?
Let's see. Previous statue destroyed by lightning.
Do I wish to be involved with the erection of a new statue?
No, sir!

It bothers me because this isn't a sign of anyone's faith. It's a gaudy display of how much money the people who go to this church have. Churches claim to want to help the needy (and i'm sure most do). All i see is a symbol of gluttony and greed.
You're right, it's not my money and in no way really affects me. I guess I just find the hypocrisy amusing.

Taken out of context, sure... but... hahahahaha.

Yes, yes. A tad sophomoric, but haha.

Keep looking deeper into all religions, your level of amusement should rise exponetially.

So the only reason that you have a problem with this is because it just happens to be a church.
How do you know it is not a sign of faith to anyone?
In reply to CaptainSpaulding:
No, I'd have the same beef if the local city hall decided to put up a 200ft Abe Lincoln, or if the local hospital placed some oversized and expensive monument out front.
Just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I go around bashing churches/religious people for no reason, though some of them seem to have no problem chastising me.
If it takes a giant jesus to show faith in something I'm even more glad I'm not religious.

To alot of people it takes a giant girl holding a torch to have faith in this country.

So it upsets you that the statue of leberty is a sign of faith to this country?

That was a gift from France as a token of mutual friendship. It is not a symbol of faith in anything.
