Wife and I left high school bound for work.  In 1980 she started filing for $5/hour and I skipped over tool and die work to head to community college.   Nothing fancy here folks

First born wants to pursue a five year PhD program in Chemistry at UCI.  (Stipend, insurance, and other stuff we had no clue about).

Last Friday morning he walks into a classroom to defend his dissertation and an hour later I’m told to leave the room along with the 10 other witnesses.  In the hallway a young man tells me the question hazing will begin and it will be ugly

Three minutes later he walks out as Dr. Adam and champagne corks start popping.   What a process and I’ll admit I’m proud of the guy.

You have every right to be proud! And you're part of it. Because they say genius skips every other generation!cheeky

You should be proud, that's quite an achievement!

Nice! Congratulations, it is a wonderful feeling seeing your kids succeed at anything. At that level of success you should be very proud. You obviously did something right.

I’ve believe you!  My mother had a full ride to college (BS Mathematics 1953) and came out as a high school math teacher.  Junior has the same love of education.

My mom had six kids and we all hated school!
