Maybe he really likes brake pads?
Or likes any of the dozens of tuning companies around the world that have the word "Axis" in their name?
I mean really... i can think of dozens of things it could mean that aren't offensive, and only one that is.
Math says there's an 8% or less chance of it being offensive, so we should all totally fixate on that 8% and ignore the 92% or more.
Uuuugggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Some gems I came across when Googling my un-friendly local DMV supervisor:

Axis Power is a common shop name for tuners of German, Japanese, Italian vehicles these days. Its no more offensive IMHO than a plate reading "NATOPWR" "UNPWR" or "USSRPWR" if you built a crazy Lada....
People take offense at too much anymore, with the way this is going, we'll never be allowed to even speak in the near future.
I buy and drive Japanese cars so I think I can say I'm not prejudiced. I don't drive German cars because they are overpriced shi+. Got nothing to do with prejudice.
Even though a large percentage of my ancestors from the mid 1800's fought on the Confederate side in the recent unpleasantness I don't fly Confederate flags for various reasons, not the least of which is the Naval Jack that everyone knows is the one most closely associated with the KKK.
I also don't ever want some millenial whining at me 'but the Holocaust was SOOOOO long ago and since I found (insert BS web site here) on the interweb and they say it was all made up how do we know it even happened?'.
He will be busy trying to figure out how to remove his nose from the rear of his skull where his nose piercing got stuck.

If it were a plate reading "Holocst" I would definitely agree with you, axis powers isn't offensive in one bit. People need to quit getting offended at simple things, otherwise we'll seriously run out of words in the English language.

Well I'm sure many of us like KKK turbos, but how many of us would also be oblivious enough to get a "KKKPWR" license plate?

That'd be wrong, it'd need to read "WITE PWR" to differentiate from a clansman and a douchebag who thinks its funny.
