Meet the new F-150 Tremor
Pretty kickass. Standard cab short bed only. 3.5 V6 Ecoboost (365HP/420lb.ft) and 4.10's. 2wd or 4x4. Well equipped interior.

I like how Detroit News spells out the detail at the end...
"Regular-cab trucks comprise about 10 percent of the truck market, Scott said, but about 5 to 6 percent of all Ford truck sales. Tremor will represent a fraction of the 5 to 6 percent of Ford sales..."
...which to me is the coolest part of this package. Big props to a company willing to package existing parts in enthusiast based packaging knowing full well the market % is minimal at best. IMO it earns good press, cheap advertising, and gets people in a showroom.

Interesting. I bet it'll sticker close to 40K, and not be any quicker than an RCSB 5.0 STX. And mod for mod, I'd bet the 5.0 trucks will still be quicker. Stock, a RCSB 5.0 STX will yank down a high 13. Modded, they're DEEP into the 11's on spray, low 12's on motor. You can probably get one out the door for close to $20K if you can find one on a dealer lot. Makes the Ram Sportsman(or whatever their stripper Hemi RCSB truck is called) look like a bargain, too. Those RCSB trucks with powerful engines are really spooky quick.
Still pretty sweet though, glad they finally did it.
Neat! I noticed the Ram already has something like this. (Ram R/T, regular cab/short box/2WD only, 5.7 Hemi, $32,840) I think the EcoBoost is an interesting powertrain choice for this truck, though I don't think the mandatory MyFordTouch crap will go over well.
Wonder if Chevy/GMC will have a response?

I own no Ford product, but between the ST variants, the "track pack/recaro" option for a Base GT Mustang, and combos like this rc/sb ecoboost f150 they've earned a tip of the hat from me.
Agreed that the Ram and a 5.0 RCSB are basically a modern day muscle car already, but this is a neat combo (depending how they price it)

You can get a standard cab, 8' box, 3.73 limited slip, 2wd, and an ecoboost in a 2013 XL model for under $29k. It won't be fancy but it'll probably haul ass.
Playing the ford website's builder, I'm actually kind of digging the work truck look and the ecoboost/muscle truck vibe. You can still get manual locks/windows with rubber floors.

Exactly AND with the 8 ft bed you have lots of utility.

Oh! Deciphering acronyms isn't my strong suit.

But you lose the sport truck look. There's something proportionally about a RCSB that just looks right. Plus it's less weight for a truck that'll be empty alot of the time going from stoplight to stoplight, and a real bed still offers plenty of utility when needed.
I'll take mine with about a 4" drop, and ditch the running boards.
There was a time when everybody didn't need a crew cab 3/4 ton. The sad part is that regular cabs make up less than 10% of the overall truck market anymore.

Yes, it's making it very hard knowing I'm going to buy an F150 next year, but can't afford to buy a new one optioned EXACTLY how I would want (well I could, but it would cut into the track budget too much) so I'll have to settle for a used one with most of the options I want.
So just for fun I went and looked at what you could custom build in the "Super Truck" category.
- Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab, 6.5' bed, 2WD, 5.0 V8/Auto, 3.55 Electronic Locker - $25,420
- Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab, 8' bed (shortest allowed), 3.5L EcoBoost/Auto, 3.73 LSD - $28,695
- Ford F-150 XLT Super Cab, 6.5' bed, 2WD, 6.2L V8/Auto, 3.55 e-loc - $37,870
- Ram Tradesman Regular Cab, 6'4" bed, 2WD, 5.7L V8/Auto, 3.55 LSD - $24,130
- Ram Express Regular Cab, 6'4" bed, 2WD, 5.7L V8 (with a little more torque)/Auto, 3.92 LSD - $24,820
And that's it! Chevy is only offering the 2013 Silverado in Crew Cab (starting north of $30K) and the 2014 won't have a standard cab (or WT's) until next summer. GMC will still sell you a standard cab Sierra, but the WT is 4.3L V6 only and the next step up is 4.8L only, so no "hot rod" trucks.
I think the Ram Express is honestly the winner here. The coil spring rear might be easier to tune, it should be the lightest, and with the 395HP/410TQ Hemi and a 3.92 LSD rear it should really smoke the tires!
I had a 2011 Ram 1500 Express RCSB 2WD with the 5.7L. It was pretty damn quick for a truck. Mine had the 3.55 open differential rear end though. I wanted 3.92s and limited slip but there wasn't one in the area. 390HP/407 Lb. Ft. moved that thing pretty well. I wanted a fun truck but couldn't swing the R/T or Sport. I paid just over $21k out the door. The comparable Ford was $27k.
Like what has been said, I think the Tremor will easily be in the upper $30s to low $40s. I'd rather have an FX2 5L crew cab for that price.

I don't disagree. On paper, this is basically on par with a Ford SVT Lightning back in 2000. MSRP was ~$30K, 14 years ago.
Engine:
2000: force inducted V8, 360HP/440lb.ft. 0-60 <6 sec.
2014: force inducted V6, 365HP/420lb.ft. (likely much better mpg's)
upgraded wheels/tires:
2000: 18's!
2014: 20's son.
interior:
2000: cloth/leather buckets, keyless, pw/pl
2014: black leather / sync / power everything
What this truck lacks is suspension tuning vs. a Lightning. What it gains is a refined interior, and (I'm guessing) vastly improved MPG's.
Both were shortbed/standard cab only. I really don't think this is meant to compete directly with the "cheap" stripper V8 Ram and others, as much as create it's own niche spot in a currently vacant space. They also only built 2500 Lightnings in 1999 (and 5000 more in 2000). It'll likely be a limited run as well.
I also think the upsell of the crew cabs is likely, and fine... like I said, it'll get people in the show room regardless.

The '12 F150 my future BIL bought stickered for $41k......he was out the door for $33k. They have a high msrp, but they have tons of rebates.
FWIW, his was also ordered new.

Well damn. A Ram Express is pretty much at the top of the list for my next truck now.
No manual, no sale
I would so like a 5.0 RCSB manual

I usually do not like Ram pickups.. but that looks perfectly mean. Well done!
isn't this what Ford used to put "Lightning" badges on?
