I often feel like I'm about to start writing "ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY" on everything at the end of a work day. On really dull days like today, I get to the "wide-eyed giggling" phase...and now I think I'm crossing into the "make rap lyrics out of everything" phase.
How close do you get to going insane with boredom at work? Be honest now, don't be a jerk. Tell me with words or you can speak in twerk, do you stay sane or get crazy as berk?
Wait, you think you're only insane at work?
I would be happy to be more bored. I'm on the complete opposite end of the spectrum - lately I feel like I don't have enough hours to get everything done, even if I am working at work and then working at home.
For me boredom doesn't always mean idleness - more often it's just mind-numbingly boring/repetitive stuff, like cleaning up databases or writing instructions.

Of course - I didn't mean to imply that it did. Sometimes those mind-numbingly boring tasks are a nice way to zone out for a few hours and listen to music while you're still getting E36 M3 done.
In reply to cmcgregor:
you'd be above Reader status as well if you had less to do

This, and I don't have to worry about losing my mind at work.....I get to feel better about myself every day for not being a dipE36 M3.

If I have a mood i dislike, I drink a beer. Or go to sleep. Depends on the job. Though I did about throw my overnight jobs computer out the window the other day because our IT guy is a berkeleying moron.
Half the time I'm so busy at work that I have to break away using the "California mandated break" excuse. The other half of the time I "support testing" by sitting around making sure the aircraft doesn't catch fire.
Testing days are generally bad got me because our engineers don't understand snark too well.
Some days, it just a 8 hour grind.
Some days, I would love to slit everyone's throat.
Some days, it's a party.
All the days have an element of crazy, but that's just me.

Berkeley you.
So I shouldn't say we were discussing the merits of shotgunning Tallboys to celebrate our canning success while I was four beers in and debating new ministry vs. Old ministry? My life is rough.

I'm never bored - I work 60+ hours at work and another 5-10 at home. I'm in sales and the more I work the more money I make.
I do however want to bounce a 6" class 300# 304 S/S RFSO flange off a few inside sales and QC people sometimes.........assuming you know what I mean.
I work with the clinically insane. The days that they make sense are the days i worry.
I want a boring job. The stress is slowly killing me.
I wish I was bored at work (it would do wonders for my blood pressure) Today I went almost the full shift without a break... finally sat down to eat for the last 20 minutes before going home.
On the good news front.. my Blood pressure -is- down where it should be now that I have told everyone at work I am no longer carrying the freeloaders

Insane: YES. I don't know how I made it through this week.
On the plus side, I got to play with cars with my dad last night; wife's birthday is this weekend; and friends are coming into town tomorrow. I might even get to switch to summer cars and tires this weekend.
Let it be known that no matter where you work, its still work. Everyone has work "issues" at every job. Find one that pays well enough to tolerate. Having a work friend helps a lot too. I actually have lunch with a friend at least once a week to just vent.

FIFY - 304 doesn't last long here...

There is a lot of wisdom in this paragraph.

I miss those people some days. The stories were legends. Other days, not so much.
Since I stopped traveling so much and work from a home office more and more my sanity level has dropped to new lows. I work both coasts so it's a loooong day to be cooped up in a room. By the time those 7PM project status calls come around my state of mind is somewhere around where Syd Barrett was 1970.
The worst possible work for my sanity was when I was living in one hotel room and doing data QC 12-18 hours a day 7 days a week in the room next door. The highlight of my day was talking to the cashiers at McDonalds.

I don't think many people like their jobs. Heck, I am in the business of people changing jobs so I see it first hand on a daily basis. From what I see there are 2 reasons people jump jobs: 1. MONEY and 2. they can't get along with a coworker/coworkers.
So, if you're being paid well to spend part of your day with people that don't suck you're doing pretty well! Bonus if your commute doesn't suck either.
I think I hate my job on a weekly basis, and then I realize that I've got it pretty good: decent pay, easy commute and the people aren't all bad.

Well the people don't suck, but that's only 1 out of 3!
