I'm elbow deep in my Mark VII and slowly grinding out progress and one night, on my way to work I pass a nice looking Mark VIII sitting on a stealership lot. It's in great shape with just over 83,000 miles. I could raid the checking account and be driving DOHC V8, rear drive goodness quicker than you can say, "Humma Kavula!".
FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...
I drive past it every. damn. night...in my whingey ass Scoob...while the Stincoln is still on jack stands in the garage...
I'm still winning the fight against the urge to buy, but it's chipping away at my resolve.
Anyone else similarly tempted?
How do you fight the stuffitis?

I usually end up caving....it doesn't help I'm surrounded by enablers (including this board)

I just clicked on your avatar to see your rides...can't say I blame you!
I just buy until I have no money left. Then I am forced to sell some cars off so I can buy some more.

Just think about the countless hours your loving wife has put into planning our trip to the world of Mouse Ears, Magic and Happiness...

Save your money and get a Marauder instead?
I just tell myself I don't have the money, which is pretty much always true.
i don't have any money (at all) or a place to store/work on anything more than the 4 vehicles i currently own, so i don't even let myself get tempted.

^^ I let myself get tempted, but it always comes back to this. ^^
I lack money. Problem solved.

My wife: no
Me: ok

i like this one lol...
the wife needs a newer car... we're waiting till the early spring so we can save and have cash in hand... that hasn't stopped me from setting my CL app to search for evey car on my 2 local CL between $1000-$5000... it's a bad idea lol.
we're also talking about picking up a suburban or something along those lines for me so I can tow the s10 when it runs (I really don't want to drive it to the challenge and risk getting stuck next year)... so naturally the discussion of me having to give up my volvo wagon comes up... i'm trying my hardest to keep the volvo around... at least for a while lol... and if I did sell it there are a million other cars I want that are not suburbans/tow vehicles... while I don't live in atlanta houston has it's share of interesting cars for a decent price...
BUY! BUY! BUY! GOTTA HAVE 'EM ALL!!!

If I can afford it and have the space for it, I buy it.
Fortunately, I'm usually short on one or the other.
Most of the cars i would be tempted to buy are really unusual, so most of the time I just don't see them, and when I do I usually don't have the money.
Both the car and the bike are already paid off, which really dissuade me from taking on yet another payment or maintenance pit. School is expensive and has a way of eating up all of my income through tuition and the multitude of related expenses.
i almost always give in and buy. i have little willpower when it comes to vehicles.
I deal with temptation by reminding myself of all the other things I want to do with money....I could buy that car (e.g. someone at work wants to sell me her geo) but I could use that money for (emergency fund, retirement, vacation, new rifle, new tools to finish datsun, saving up to run a chumpcar at sebring*)

[*] - running a crapcan race is a little beyond my means, but I REALLY want to do it at least once in life....a real track, wheel to wheel, instead of dodging cones in a parking lot.
