Moot point now. I didn't even have to show SWMBO pics - we drove past the seller's road on our way to the store earlier & I mentioned seeing an ad for a cheap convertible down that street. She was shaking head before I even finished the sentence.
I'd be glad to check it out for any of you though.
It was good enough for Jon Voight.
Do you live on the Gulf Coast? I'm in Mandeville. I think for a beater convertible a Mustang is a much better choice and there are plenty of them around.

Yes...and Illinois. Though it'll be a gradual transition over the next few years to being down here full-time.
My problem with owning a Mustang is I'd want one with a fixed roof & manual trans, setup to be reasonably competitive at autox - I couldn't stand having a vert/auto when I knew there were more sporting options. If I'm going for a cruiser(which really isn't that high on the priority list) I'd want something old & weird...the kind of car that makes people think "WTF???" When they see it.

Why would you be interested in this? Have you ever driven one? They have to be one of the least satisfying cars to drive that I've ever experienced. Plus, they are just not good cars. I'm pretty sure the convertible top is the only thing that meets your wife's requirements.
Its an American cruiser, it wasn't meant to be sporty. Doesn't mean that it can't be made to be fairly decent cruisers with enough power to get out of their own way.
Also ask all the folks that brought turbo-dodges to the Challenge and several other events whether they thought a turbo K-car was a bad idea. I doubt many would say they weren't satisfied.
My 71 Electra was a cruiser, and as such it was very satisfying to drive. To each his own, but I was a mechanic in an era when I worked on a lot of these, and they are just horrible cars.
Good for you.
I've had nearly every iteration of these at one time or another. My grandparents and close family had several of different types as well.
I'd say we were all pretty satisfied by them.
I certainly wouldn't daily one, but for an occasional cruise there are worse cars to own.
You know, like nearly anything GM from that era.
You should hold out for a LeBaron GTC 'vert.
Or get this one with a 5-speed!
