My son occasionally drives to work in Manhattan, NYC. Because he's a good tipper, the guys at the gate park his car and fetch it when he picks it up. Recently there was no one at the gate so he parked and figured he's square up with them when he picked the car up.
He took these photos with is phone on the way out. These bikes have no plates and no NYS required annual inspection sticker. Normally there's a ticket hanging on the handle bar, none on these.
Without a cop in the family, how can you trace the VIN?
A call the the DMV with the VIN should get the job done.
those appear to be in "storage" so i wouldnt bother trying. ask the parking garage guys what is up with the bikes, maybe they know the owners and could put you in touch with them
I've seen cars in storage that the owner literally took out once a year. I don't think they would mind the inquiry, though. Contact the management of the garage first, though.

If they are abandoned, and storage has not been paid, the garage canget a mechanic's lien, and then sell with a clear title. Takes a little time and effort, but a clear title is worth it.
It's NYC, so I am betting that they are already stolen.

They're seemingly abandoned motorcycles. It doesn't much matter where they are. I can't imagine an easier vehicle to steal. I'm pretty sure even the most out of shape of our members could break a fork lock.
People buy motorcycles and don't ride 'em. Then one nice spring day they decide to, and the battery is dead. They buy a battery, have their "mechanical friend" install it, and the thing runs for sh1t 'cause the carbs are full of crud. At that point either they: Have it towed to a shop where (for an inline-4 sport bike) they get a $750 estimate for a get-running or: Leave it.
When I worked at a large multi-line dealership I bought these bikes all the time, generally for the cost of the estimate.
I'm going with "not abandoned." I'm no New Yorker, but if that was my garage, 'abandoned' vehicles wouldn't be wasting space. That said, if you really want them, berkeley the DMV, Call the DHS.
