Around the corner from work, there is a project (Broad River Bridge) where two bridges are being built. That way the first bridge was completed, it's used to carry traffic, then the second bridge is being built. Makes sense.

But MAN is it ever slow work! The Ravenel Bridge in Charleston took 3 years to build, it's 13,200 feet long. It's taken that long to build the one span up here and it's only about 300 feet long. That means the second one will be completed maybe 2 years from now. SIX YEARS to build two short bridges?

The flip side is that the roads around here are generally in pretty good shape. I guess that's due to no freeze/thaw cycles or road salt. But oh yes the crews will lean on a shovel!
