i think the answer to the first part depends on the truth of the second. if the goal is making good music, then the second part is true, and the answer to the first. if the goal is making huge piles of cash, that is the answer to the first, and the second part is false.

That helps me understand why I've never been an AC/DC fan.

I remember reading an interview with Angus Young years ago. The interviewer mentioned the fact that alot of people had accused AC/DC of releasing the same album ten times in a row. Angus's reply was "That's a berkeleying lie!!! We've released the same album twelve times in a row!!!"

Back on topic... When I was younger, I would always tell myself "When I grow up, I'm gonna be somebody!!!

In hindsight, I guess I should have been a bit more specific.

My problem with Nickleback is that too many bands are directly influenced by them. Nickleback I find pretty mediocre, which I can leave be. But whenever I turn on the local rock station, about every other song is a band that wants to be Nickleback, but with more added suck.
