Maybe everybody already knows this, but i thought i would pass it along. As it turn out you can filter out ads with certain words. Go in the search field, put in a minus sign (-) then the word you dont want to be any of the ads. For instance i like looking at the tool section, but there is a guy with a pawn shop puts in literally a seperate ad for every item he has, every day. He completely crams the whole tool section full of his junk. But he also puts his address in each ad. So i put in - then his street name, then boom they were all gone. I just thought somebody else might find this helpful.
You can also use a pipe (vertical bar) to search for multiple items:
miata|p71|astro|safari|project
Knew about the '-'. Didn't know about the pipe. Thanks, Evan. Also, if you append '#list' to the end of the URL, it will automatically go to the List view instead of all the pictures. Good for bookmarked searches.
Yeah, search engines have had that feature for quite some time. I have a standing search on my local CL for "turbo manual -diesel" to eliminate all the old diesel trucks that get spam-posted over and over around here.

This is not 100% reliable.

That's a great tool. I search for "ka24e" for engine parts and end up with 300+ hits of JDM engines for sale. No I don't want a Vtec or Toyota motor while searching for parts for my 30 year old Nissan motor
In reply to ProDarwin:
All of your non-working examples had spaces in them. Spaces do not work in the pipe separated searches. Only single words as far as I know.
In reply to dculberson:
If you wrap the specific term in quotes, you can search for just that.
One of my searches: firebird|"trans am"
That works in -eBay as well.
Well CL is eBay so there is that...

Not for a few years now. EBay sold it back
Sweet! Thanks for the tip; gonna use this on the local Honda quad guy who posts dozens of ads a day for quad parts and includes every Japanese sportbike and dirt bike model names he can think of. Does he really think someone shopping for a Honda CBR is suddenly going to change their mind and buy a crusty four-wheeler hub instead upon seeing his ad? -trx -rancher should do it nicely. :)
if you want to find a good deal on a GM F body, search for "Camero"..
