Front Porch is a 944, back Porch is a 911. A friend nicknamed his 944 Porky.
I can tell whether I'm likely to enjoy people's company by how they react.
I've always pronounced it the right way.
What always kills me is the people who say "I don't care that it's someone's last name, I still pronounce it Porsh".
Even though it's the cleanest, most perfect 986 Boxster S I've ever seen, and it's a 50th anniversary 550 Spyder limited edition, and in the paperwork I have the documentation for the $21k new engine the dealer good-willed 12k miles, and it cost new stripper/base model Camry money...
It's still a Porsche, and we're not "fancy people". So around here we always have a laugh and in a very affected, ostentatious voice call it the "Poooor-skeh", like we're pan-ethnic coke dealers or something.
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced Beetle

Better not ever catch you saying "chevy"
GM has been trying to get rid of the "chevy" nickname since 2010.
but if you don't like that example: Merc, Benz, Olds, Caddy, Jag...
I say it the right way, but I work there so I have to.
Land Rover does not like it when we shorten it to just 'Rover". (Thats a different company)
Still say Audi wrong. Ow-de is wrong. aww-de is correct. The root word is "audible".
I've been to too many work related propoganda meetings...
Not exactly a household word in Westfort.
There is, however, much debate as to how to properly pronounce "perogy"
