I really liked it. Vol. 1 was a tough act to follow and this did that well. I will keep this as spoiler free as I can. With the characters established, they had been able to focus on character development.

My two biggest critiques would be the sound track and plot. The Awesome Mix Vol. 1 was a great ensemble piece. Vol. 2 is good but feels less coherent, aside from Brandy by Looking Glass, because that song is amazing. The plot was refreshing by not being McGuffin driven, i.e. the Infinity Stone in Vol. 1. Alternatively, the plot felt less unified for lack of a McGuffin.

The Easter eggs, cameos, and multiple post credit scenes are all fun. I'm looking forward to seeing how far Grute has grown back up in Vol. 3.

Overall, one of, if not the best sophomore entries of the MCU.

It was fun. I agree the plot was sketchy, but I absolutely loved the soundtrack. I didn't really appreciate the brothel scene in a PG-13 flick, but I'm old-fashioned that way.

A fun time at the movies. How Marvel keeps doing it, over and over, is pretty impressive.

I am not and have never been a comicbook follower, but I enjoyed both the first and second movies a lot. At times the character development seemed a bit heavy handed and slowed parts of the movie down, but overall I give it two thumbs up.

I also thought Mantis was pretty cute

Havent seen it yet, but hope to this weekend...at the drive in!!

I am very excited with the explosion of the comic movie genre. Its a great time - all the kids who were comic nerds in the 80s and 90s now are grown-folk with disposable income. Hollywood is exploiting my youth, and Im loving every minute of it.

Im very curious to see what the next gen will look like. All my favorite characters have had their time in the light, some more than once: Spiderman (except McGuire's #3, that was garbage), Batman, Superman, Capt. America, Iron Man, Wolverine to name a few. I think that the Nolan Batman series will be hard to ever top, but I am anxious to see some more from the new DC Justice League - I wasnt convinced either way by Aflecks batman, so I need to see more to make an opinion. Jackman is getting too old to do Wolvie anymore - IIRC, hes done with that character now that Logan has come out. I really want to see who picks up the torch next. Also, RDJ i think is only doing 1 more Tony Stark role, in the next Avengers. I LOVE his Stark, and really hope the next actor does half as good.

I still havent seen Dr Strange, but I know I need to. Apparently it really lays the groundwork for the next layer of MCU to unfold. I must say though, I fear the "arms race" (amount of power the different "supers" are able to manifest) will get out of hand soon. Im really more enamored by the Iron Man/Batman/Spider Man/Wolverine characters - their abilities only seem to be an order of magnitude greater than an average human, making it more believeable. Once people start being able to warp time or change dimensions at will, then the sky is the limit, and no one can face off against them.

What I really hope to see more of are some of the supporting characters (specifically X-Men) getting some limelight: Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Gambit - these were the guys I really liked seeing. I feel like they have a nice assortment of powers that could make for some cool stories, and really awesome on-screen action given the state of the CGI that we are seeing these days.

...sorry for the book of a post, as you can see, Im pretty into these stories!

Really? You guys thought Guardians was good?

Chris isn't an action hero type of guy, he's best at "playing" a bungler therefore action hero roles aren't believable for him.

Damn, I didn't even notice him. What character did he play? I haven't had Sirius since 2012 though so I wouldn't even had a clue he made a cameo. I loved Richard and Sal when I listened for what seemed like forever. Maybe I should take Sirius up on the never ending offers they email me every day it seems?

For the record I have no idea about the world of Guardians of the Galaxy, and only half paid attention to the first film. Also I really don't have much of a grasp of any of these comic book movies, and don't watch many if any of them. My 10 year old wanted to go see the movie, and I felt like going out, so we went to see it. I thought this one was very funny, and I like Chris Pratt from watching him on Parks & Rec. I don't take comic book movies very seriously, so who really cares who the actors are. I thought he was funny, and the sound track was excellent.

Personally, I really couldn't give a rip about the other characters. But a smartass trash-talking raccoon that blows E36 M3 up is absolutely Berkeleying brilliant.

I thought it was good. Chris Pratt isn't playing a badass action hero, he's playing a bungler who also partakes in a little heroism on the side.

Edit: BTW the brothel scene is no more explicit than the references to prostitution in Futurama, so you probably shouldn't let that dissuade you from bringing kids into it. There's some sexual dialogue that is far more explicit though.

And Chris Pratt did play a badass action hero who does some comedy on the side in Jurassic World, and he was good in that role too.

Yep. Two movies, both of which are huge financial and critical successes, I'd say they count as "good". Like it or not, Pratt is now one of the biggest actions stars in the world between the Guardians franchise and Jurassic World.

Though I thought Micheal Rooker stole the show in Vol. 2.

In reply to 1988RedT2:

If I was to question content and the rating, I would be more concerned over Yandu's fight scene than the robo brothel. Then again, my first PG13 movie in a theater was Hot Shots when I was 7.

According to Rotten Tomatoes 91 percent of critics and 92 percent of everyone of everyone thought it was good.
What have you thought of the rest of the MCU?

I dug Vol 2, soundtrack was pretty good but honestly had no chance with what it was up against from the first.
Drax was more fun this time around as well.

People getting brutally murdered is fine, a character who has screwed his way across the universe for eons is fine... implied robo-pleasure that will go right over kid's heads isn't? OK.

I enjoyed it. I think the soundtrack of Vol 1. was more on the money, but it was still an enjoyable sit. I'm not a comic nerd so I didn't get all the gratuitous cameos and references and such, but that doesn't matter.

Drax was awesome. Who would have thought he'd be the main source of comedy?

Is the next Avengers movie going to have a cast of approximately 300 principal characters? I understand GotG will be in attendance.

Supposedly the two Infinity Wars movies will cost about $1B between them. I'm sure a good portion of that will be paying all the actors. Which is kind of ironic, since Marvel was responsible for a lot of them being high-paid movie stars in the first place.

I thought the movie was great. It was a great sequel given how will vol1 did. Rooker performance was probably the best individual performances in the MCU from a supporting actor and better than most main actors.

Technically, they were mutineers, and got an appropriate punishment for their crime. A concept foreign to many today, I understand.
