My wife and I are looking for an i3 lease to takeover. We aren't sure if we want to commit to one super long term, so a lease takeover would be ideal. I have been checking swapalease.com regularly but have come up empty. I would welcome any leads that are even remotely close to FL Thanks!
No help but I def want a ride in that one.
Happy to give rides. First, I need to find one!
Aren't there some tax credits to be had if you buy an i3? If there are, wouldn't you miss out on them by taking over a lease?

There are. The federal tax credit is still $7500. Unfortunately, FL does not offer any state credits. Even so, I can't find any BMW dealer locally to lease me an i3 at a reasonable rate. I've been checking SwapAlease.com and the leasehackr forum, hoping to find a lease to take over. No luck so far.
There's a BMW i3 Worldwide Group on Facebook that's pretty active, and there are folks that post leases they are looking to swap there occasionally.
Should you need to sample the righteous indignation of EV owners who can't get to public chargers, you can also get that there as well.

Thanks for the lead. I just applied for admission to the group!
In reply to Tom Suddard :
How much do you want for your leaf?
In reply to Matthew Kennedy :
The Leaf isn’t going anywhere. We’re actually looking to become a 2 EV family; Nicole wants an i3.

make sure to write a thread about that, an used i3 is pretty high on the list for sleepywife when we get back
I don't know if the offer is still current, but there were a fair number of rebates on the i3 out there that were stacking up at one time on a new i3--
- $10K on a Costco fleet purchase
- $7.5K federal tax credit
- whatever your state does or doesn't offer
- $1000 BMW CCA rebate
And some utilities will rebate something towards the cost of a home charger
PS-- My 2015 CPO i3 REX is going great -- 6000 miles since April and no problems since addressing a failed airbag and a fuel supply pressure sensor in the REX. I definitely couldn't have got by without the REX for my daily 55 miles where 40+ miles are at 70-75 mph though. Being able to code the vehicle to turn on the REX at will and to get an extra 1/2 gallon of fuel capacity is pretty much required for this kind of use.
One other bit though-- insurance has come out to be rather spendy. Might have something to do with the carbon fiber body and the rear hatch exterior being two pieces of glass. Also anecdotes that replacing the large windshield in the carbon fiber frame runs to some $s.

wouldn't surprise me... we totaled a 2012 Countryman when a tree touched it this spring. And I've replaced enough windshields in clubman's to have a feel for i3 costs
