Not sure anything is getting built today....

About an hour and a half of work. Had to adjust post bases and plumb everything up. Got rafters on. Need more Tico nails. I think they are in the other cabin..... I post holed over there once already....

Roof is on. Need more Tico nails... But it's 90% done and you can stand under it.

Super glad to hear you are using actual Teco nails. Just took apart a floor that someone had used roofing nails... nope!

I see it all the time.... There is a reason they are nice and thick.... Much of the cabin has screws in the hangers, but they are at least good quality ones.

Been working on the fire shelter. Added a bar/table top. Going to add firewood storage under it.

Anyone have experience with well Points?

This is the area that is always wet. There is standing water there right now.

1000020474.jpg

I was hoping to go in horizontally at the bottom edge of that hill, but I'm not 100% sure it will be low enough to hit the water? Run at a shallow angle down? The idea behind horizontal is it may flow out a bit and not need a pump?

Thoughts?

I know nothing about horizontal wells... but I was curious- is this thread current now??

Is this in an Artesian well warning area?  My parents had a property that was very difficult to get anyone to dig in, 50/50 chance of making a new stream.

Almost current!

In reply to akylekoz :

One neighbor has a spring, we have a creek right behind us, but this area is always wet. So I was thinking I may be able to "start" a spring per say.

Digging here does not create new streams, its pretty sandy for the most part.

Supposed to be - 22 tonight.

Good thing the power just went out and smoked us out....

Lots of shoveling

1000020578.jpg

Got down to - 24....

1000020606.jpg

Had to dig the generator out, literally, and it did not want to start that cold. But it did eventually fire up and worked through the night. Power came back about 4am. One down side to the pellet stove... It needs power.

Another 16" of fresh stuff.

1000020880.jpg

UPS is tucked into the corner by the recycle bins. According to the data sheet it should run the stove (without the ignitor) for a couple hours. But in reality I assume it's much less. All I need is a shut down cycle tho!

1000020884.jpg

Well it's melting out in a freaking hurry. Low snow year. Fire season may suck.... A lot.

Dragged a ton of brush out before the maples grow in. It's all stacked nicely for chipping.

Lots of little misc things this past weekend. (and we are now current!)

I reminded myself how to use cad and designed and printed a thing! It adapts a computer fan to a 4" duct so I can add a bit of venting to the container. My 4 1/8" hole saw was dull AF, so it doesn't fit quite right yet.... But Ill fix that next weekend.

Solar panel is hooked directly to the fan (24VDC fan) any time sun is up, fan is on.

Wheelchair is super handy! I ahve so much wood to cut and move.....

That is one bed full. I have a lot more......

Borrowed the neighbors tractor and finished spreading all the RR ballast.

Assembled some new chairs for the deck.

Moved BBQ over, it constantly greased up the window....

Changed the air filter on the chipper.

And it barely fits..... I need to do some organizing.

Lots of chip piles made. Trimmed and cleared a lot more this last weekend.

1000023612.jpg

Finished another 30ft of ski fence

1000023610.jpg

Used my oba to finish nailing off the fire gazebo

1000023619.jpg

Pulled stump out of drainage swale

1000023621.jpg

And if you see a theme here, this thing is HANDY.

Douched the Contrainer and slid everything back so I have parking room.

1000023609.jpg

1000023611.jpg

Finished the fan up. Printed another adapter just a little bigger and done.

Good weekend!

outstanding!  i'll never do this, but i do enjoy the thread.

container needs more semi-gloss white paint inside.  i'd paint the floor too, it'll really help with the light inside.

Very true, did not even think about that. The lights get picked up by the camera much more then they are in reality. They are just little battery motion lights. But its way better than it was! The shelving is so nice to finally have rather than just piling everything up.

I'm a little behind again.... Lucky me, they were brass! Had to cut the union nut off, but a monkey wrench and a rubber mallet broke them free easy!

It is stupid heavy. Prob 70lbs, which seems like a lot for as small as it is.

Glad they cooperated (Lucky! LOL)   Some of the old timers used a type of pipe thread compound that cured hard with heat on steam systems and it's a nightmare to break free  The brass nipples were your friend in this case.   That's going to make an amazing heat exchanger for your redneck hot tub.  Carry on!
