The movie basically did, I don't think the events of 2 or 3 were ever mentioned.

Just be glad they killed the original JP4 plot/script. Human/dino hybrids to fight the original dinos that made it off the islands.

Yes, this would have sucked
Not sure what i expected out of the movie, i mean what else can the plot of a jp movie be? Otoh, we watched the original tonight since the lady friend hadnt seen any of them. It was kinda dissapointing how much they copied the original. 2 kids, a man and woman. The raptors fighting the t Rex at the end.
At least i didnt pay for the movie night, nor was it full price.
Saw the movie last night. Definitely entertaining. That said, my mom and I frantically whispered "WHY WON'T SHE TAKE THE DANG HEELS OFF" at each other about once every ten minutes. I mean, honey, you're running from a dinosaur. TAKE OFF THE HEELS. She must be an olympic champion in sneakers.
Saw it last week. Was thoroughly entertained. I loved the throwback to original parts and was not expecting the paddock 9 thing. That was well done. I thought making the raptors a legit character with development and plot involvement was neat.
I have never seen any Jurrasic Park movie. There is no reason for this.
Should I watch any of the original films before watching this one?
You should watch the original because it is awesome. You don't really need to see it or the othersame to enjoy the new movie though.
Gaping plot holes were gaping. The baroness and I kept shooting sidelong glances at each other and reminding ourselves to suspend disbelief.
I don't mind absurdity and over-the-top. I just mind when a movie can't follow it's own internal logic. The whole movie basically comes down to how they couldn't be bothered to build a door. Every single one of their enclosures has the same kid of air-lock style doors that are used by every zoo everywhere for any animal... except in the enclosure of the biggest, scariest, most mutated evil dino-monster.
I finally saw it yesterday. It was completely predictable, but still thoroughly entertaining. I don't regret seeing it at the theatre.

+1 almost word for word...
I'd say this quote, from an earlier edition, covers it nicely: Dr. Ian Malcolm: Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and um, screaming.
