I did not watch the debate last night but upon perusing the rehash articles today I read about Ken Bone. Mr Bone, it seems, may have an affinity for magic spinning triangles.
If Mr Bone is not here, he should be.

Same guy or just same name?
I was at that car show, 2nd annual show is coming up on the 23rd of this month.
A question about the effects of environmental regulations on legacy fossil fuel power systems makes sense for a rotorhead

Regardless of whether it's the same guy, that thing is stunning. Perfect colour & choice of wheels too. I love everything about it.
I'd be pretty shocked if it was the same guy. If the show had been in the St. Louis area, I'd have believed it.
Slate says our beloved K-Bone is indeed the same as the owner of the Mazda, but it looks like that is just google-search-journalism. Slate Link
Is that motor a bit undercarburated? It looks like each barrel feeds a rotor. Based on the size of carbs I have seen on rotaries, they seem to want a lot of carb. Those look like IDA's, and probably set with big chokes, but it still seems a bit small for those motors.
So a guy who works in the energy industry asked... a question about energy policy. This should surprise no one.
The problems are that his profession wasn't declared when he was called to ask his question as it should've been - probably just an accidental oversight - and that he could've been astroturfing for his employer. That paints his professional delivery of the question in a whole different light.

Ehh, I'm aware there is precedent for that but it just doesn't seem likely in this case. He flat out denied it in that article you linked. I didn't watch the debate (I have no intention of ever learning what tr*mp's voice sounds like) but I read a transcript. His question wasn't leading - really just "what IS your policy anyway?" - and neither candidate had a particularly better answer prepared than the other.
MY energy policy is "yes please, I WOULD like a PHEV conversion of an RX4 with the magic spinning triangles hooked up as the range extender." He should have asked me.
He works in an industry one of the candidates stated they were going to put out of business. It's not hard to believe that he was able to put together a well thought out question to get them both to explain where they stand on an issue important to his livelihood without being coached.
We can give him the benefit of the doubt with that question, but we know he sells out easily:

From his question and the way he asked it, I was pretty sure he had some sort of personal stake in the answer. If he or some of his relatives worked for the coal industry, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the recent developments had him worried about the future of coal jobs. It seems like he was concerned about how this election would affect him, personally, and asked a substantial question instead of feeding the candidates a cue to recite a scripted line. Good for him.
I can't quote the article on my phone but calling nekkid pregnant women beautiful human submarines is pretty funny. Ken bone is more like me than I thought

It's even funnier when you find out that he meant that in a good way!

For those that didn't see it, here is a story on the RX-4 owner, a different Ken Bone.
