Picked up my daughter and my nephew she was babysitting from the playground yesterday. His name is braydon and the classmates he was playing with were another Braydon, Aiden, Aiden, Cayden, and Kyle. No not too confusing. My other daughter had a spanish class this last semester. 19 kids in class 5 of them named Emily. We almost named her Emily as well. My brother in law has had two wives both named Jennifer and is currently dating a third.

I'll bet the 5 Emilys are all spelled different.

I've always been the only Hess, outside of the family. Dr.Linda was one of 6 Linda's in her grade school class, which was pretty small. They gave each a number to keep it straight.

Yes. My sister in a Jennifer from the mid '70s. In her cohort growing up something like half the girls were named Jenny. My daughter is 12 and a Grace. At various points, literally ALL the girls in her class either were Grace or had it for a middle name.

I am one of only two Arthurs I know. The other being one of the few mechanics I trust (Go figure)

of my Nieces, the oldest is 16 and shares her class with three Neos. Yes, guess what movie was a chart topping hit in 1999/2000?

Years ago I dated three different girls in a row their names were Kim, Kimmy, and Kimberly Ann. Then I dated a girl named Ronda, had to watch myself.

LOL as soon as I saw this thread title I thought about the Aiden/Brayden/Hayden/Jayden/Cayden thing, but I thought that had gone out of style by now! I guess if they're around 10~13 years old that makes sense.

The Braydons are all in first grade. Seems like many of my daughters high school aged friends are named Emily, Meaghan, or Hailey.

Pretty sure those kids in the original post are going to have their asses kicked on the playground by Vinny, Bobby, and Joey.

The social security office actually has an interface to let you datamine their name database. Want to see how a name has waxed and waned? Want to see the top 1000 names for a given year? If you're like me, you'll find it really interesting.

https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

And BTW, Aiden has been in the top 20 for a decade. Emily has always been popular, including a run at #1 from 1996 to 2007 and has been top 10 ever since. Neo never made it into the top 1000.

There are no more Vinny, Bobby and Joeys. The youngest of them would all be in their 40s now. I went to school with about a million Joes, the same for Tom, Jim, Bob, Pete, etc.

My son has zero of them. THere are some dangerous Joshuas, Nathans, Conners and one badass Pasquale though just looking for a Tristan or Trevor to lay a beat down on.

My brother's name is Rick, mine is Nick. After my father died my mom remarried a man named Dick who has a son named Rick. It's all very confusing.

At 45 i'm a few years early for the Josh glut that came soon after. Did have 3 close friends Jen, Jenny, and Jennifer in High School. One of my older sisters closest friends is named Jennifer. I had a Jen as a roommate for awhile. My wife who is a few years younger than me (and not one of my High School friend or roommate Jennifers) legally changed her name to Jenna because of her the popularity of the name Jennifer in her age group. In high school she was part of a group of friends who differentiated with Jenna, If, and Fur.

It's actually on the way back. Top 25 around the beginning of the the 20th century, then it fell off the top 1000 in the 1960s. But it popped back up in 2013 and is now at 513.

Most popular girl's name from 1970 to 1984 and top 10 from 1966 to 1991. 2.8% of all US girls born in 1984 are named Jennifer. There are a LOT of Jennifers out there.

At one point, I had 8 different Mike's in my phone. I'm down to 3 now. 4 or 5 different Ashley's, and I think 4 John's now. I knew there were a lot of multiples but I haven't gone through my contact list in a while to know which.

I was pushing for Esther when i found out we were having a girl, because no one is named Esther anymore, but I was out voted. (I would have been allowed Damian had she been a boy)

I'm an Enrico. I've never met another one.

For a really strange one, one of the Mike's father is named Ceward (pronounced "sea word"). When they last looked he was one of 3 people with that name in the country. I'm guessing he's in his 70s, but I honestly don't know, also not sure if I spelled it right.

Mike, my name as well, is an asterisk here. That name is in the top five names list since they started top names lists.

I've got a niece coming in the next week or so, and she's going to be named Lillian, or Lily for short. Named after a grandmother. I figured it would be fairly unusual - but both Lily and Lillian are top 25 and have been 10-15 years. Which surprises me.

My grandfather's name was Thomas Cedric, and he went by Ced. Oddly, his name was a lot more popular in the 70's than when he was born. Not one you come across often.

Michael was actually around #50 from 1900 to 1933, then it started climbing. Either #1 or #2 from 1954-2008, it's down to #8 now. Makes you wonder what happened between the wars.
