My wife is going in for foot surgery next week and she has heard about a Knee Walker instead of a wheel chair. Has anybody used one of these? By the way this is not a picture of either my wife or me!

Thanks

Scott

A woman in my office had one of those recently (I think she sprained her ankle or had a broken bone in her foot, I'm not sure.) Anyway, she seemed to get around the office quite well with it; it was certainly a lot more maneuverable than a chair.

It looks like you could fit a small two stroke under there and add some bigger rubber.

My wife had surgery this morning to put plates and screws on her ankle she broke Monday. I just put her back on the crutches she used last time she screwed up a leg.

If she was a horse I'd have to shoot her.....

Looks like a pretty good idea, may have to look in to one of those. Our house doesn't have room for a wheelchair.

That is a nice picture of your wife.
I know you said it not her but "me thinks you detest too much."

You two must be very happy together, NTTIATWWI.

My wife tried using one to keep off a broken foot.

All it did was bug her other ankle and frustrate her.

I think it's fine for someone who doesn't move a lot normally, but my wife is pretty active and it was just too much of a hassle.

Probably be more fun to use a razor scooter with a riser to support her leg and not her knee/shin like the one above does.

Seems like that could put a lot of stress on her knee as she scoots along 'cause you know that when the other foot goes up, the body will shift weight to the other leg.

I could see it working for someone with an ankle or foot injury.

Can she use a walker cast? I broke a small bone in my foot around last Thanksgiving and was able to get back to work within a few days, where I am on my feet all day.

Pansies. I have been wearing an aircast for six weeks just to pick up the chicks!

I think they are great, wish I had known about them a year ago when i had this done.

I was not allowed to put any weight on the foot for 6 weeks. Crutches did not work for me (kept losing my balance). Using a regular walker put too much strain on my shoulders. So we ended up gettng a wheelchair. Which necesitated rearranging furniture and removing 2 doors from their hinges.

Two months after I was back on my feet one of the ladies who works in the fitness room at the YMCA broke her foot. She had one of the knee walkers and she was much more mobile then anything I had tried.
