I need to buy one to spray primer on a boat I am restoring. The townhouse I am renting is not equipped for 220v and I am not paying to put it in. Ideally I would find a belt drive upright compressor thats 25 gallons or so. All I am finding are these oiless/direct drive compressors which I hear are not great. Any suggestions?

This any good?

It will work, and it will make you go deaf.

I don't know about that one....looks to be an oilless setup to me (I don' see the cylinder for an oiled pump)

I have a similar housing situation (rental duplex, single car garage w/one 110v outlet. I just got a HF upright in that class for my birthday, cost $165 brand new on sale. It works well, but it is LOUD. Not like an oilless compressor, but loud. It claims to draw 14 amps, but I can run it on my rental-duplex 15 amp circuit that has other things plugged in and running and it doesn't trip the circuit. I can't speak to durability yet, but it works well to run an impact and air up tires. Probably marginal for spraygun use. Easy to move around. I believe it's direct drive, but not oilless. I think it's about the best that can be done for a rental unit....and it's easily portable when you move.
