The tinnitus and the sudden inability to tolerate playing the piano. Lawn mower also got too loud, even with ear protection, which I've always worn. Got a little better when I bought the biggest, dorkiest, highest-rated 3M industrial-grade earmuffs. I look like Mickey berkeleying Mouse out there...
I use a Bose CVC set, with helmet padding but no helmet, so I likely look funnier. The padding keeps my head warm when using the snow blower and surplus parts can be cheap. Being able to quickly switch from full protection to passing through voice is nice, as that is just a toggle switch that is easy to operate with gloves.
