I want to record me driving with a camera mounted on the windshield or the roof but am too broke to afford a gopro . Please recommend me any alternatives to gopro that's more affordable. I heard there are cameras like gopro that can detect g-force. Please help me find one?
You might be thinking of a smartphone data logger app that records video, like Harry's Lap Timer.
A cheap GoPro knockoff is the GearPro. Only downside, they're not durable like GoPros.

Sony has an "Action Cam" line, but they're not much easier on the wallet than a GoPro.
Check out the camera from Contour -- either the Roam or the +2. The +2 was their flagship until recently IIRC and is $199 list. The Roam is newer and $299. Have a friend who has the +2 and mounted one to his Jeep Trailhawk to record video on his trip to Big Bend.......looked very decent.

Monoprice has an action camera that is getting reviews that say it is a good value. If you are willing to wait a month or two it seems like all of their products go on sale sooner or later:

I recently picked up a Dazzne P2 on amazon for $95. It does 1080P and the video quality is quite good. Apparently its compatible with gopro accessories too. They are coming out with a new version that has wifi. A great review is here: Techmoan
RePlay makes some decent stuff it seems. I don't know anyone with first hand experience but they work well on Stadium Super Trucks.

Check out eBay for the SJ4000 cameras. They use GoPro mounts too.

We use one. I brought one in to demo in the shop. Haven't had much time to use it at the track. Only video we have out on the interwebs is one my buddy put together using the time lapse feature of him doing a vinyl wrap on a customer's Mustang.
Mustang wrap shot on Replay XD
any input on the geek pro on amazon? $10 more than to gear pro, claims waterproof to 100 feet, compatible with go-pro mounts, 1080p video. for $60 it looks like a cheap way to document my first $20xx experience.
