Late to this thread despite knowing your story. Still hurts my heart to read it.
I lost my Dad suddenly to heart issues in 2001--he was 59. Honestly, I'm glad he went the way he did (painlessly in his sleep), as a long period of suffering is so brutal for everyone involved.
You've been in my thoughts and you'll continue to be in them. This is still my primary motivation to be on a bicycle.
My condolences for the loss of your Dad.
