If I owned a Corvette, I'd never park it near a Waffle House.

"First responders also struggled to find a way to get Rogers out of the car". "Firefighters eventually had to break the window." Not sure how things really went down, but the way the story is printed makes first responders and firefighters in Port Arthur sound like morons. Hot day, person stuck in a car, if doors don't open, step #1 is break glass. Kudos to the people that called 911, but could also not muster the brain power to break glass.

I hope when it is my time to leave this earth I can leave behind 10 (or hopefully 11) pages of discussion about my life and the way I died and, if I am really lucky, also have a belly full of waffles.

If I had to die in a corvette at a waffle house at 72, I hope it's because I was running from the police and lost control at a buck sixty and I hit the waffle house backwards and on fire.

In an effort to keep this baby going towards page 50 or so, I've educated myself to some of the facts as we know them. Either this guy was inside with his dog, or his dog was out in the car on a day where heat was a factor. Even if someone leaves the dog in the car for 10 minutes, the windows should be down, or they're a defenseless prick. If the windows are down when you get in the car, first step is to start the engine and get the AC going before sending the windows up. The guy was trapped in a non running car with the windows up which leads me to think his dog was in the car with the windows up. Dick. Then he got himself stuck inside a locked car where he supposedly died from heat exhaustion while looking through the owner's manual, according to story printed. Jeez, how big is that owner's manual? Hey, you can skip over the defroster section and go straight to doorlocks. I've noticed the main pic shows driver's side window down a few inches. EMT's would have dropped it all the way, so it appears the window wasn't all the way up when he was inside, and it appears to be enough room to stick your hand out and wave to get someone's attention. Mr Rogers was at his favorite Waffle House, which makes me think he was a regular customer, but noone noticed he just went out, got in his car, but never left? Just how long would it take to die from heat exhaustion? 15 minutes, 30, an hour? Certainly long enough someone should have noticed the occupied car not moving. Rogers even left his phone inside. Apparently noone gave a crap to try and run it out to him before he left. And yes, I watch too many detective shows on tv.

The guy only went in for a coffee. I would definitely have a belly full of waffle and bacon.

Has anyone considered that the owner may have just been stupid?

I know it's not P.C. to suggest it but I've met plenty of people and I'm amazed that some of them manage to make it out of their house in the morning.

I just heard from a reputable source that it was the dog that was driving, and he left the old man in the car to run in to the Waffle House to get a biscuit and some coffee. Explains a lot if you think about it.

Might have this all wrong. Waffle House is to blame. For some sort of negligence. Maybe it was the dig's fault. Listening to the radio with the car off, running the battery down or playing with the window switches (come on 12).
