Smaug was first at one point? From what I heard the highest estimate ever made of his gold hoard since his movie appearance put him at 6th worldwide at most, next to Carlos Slim on one side or the other at the time.

Let's say your neighbor has 1 million dollars, and you have 10,000. Next year, your neighbor, through savings and investment, has 1.1 million, and you, because of the improving economy, have been able to get a better job, so you now have 30,000. The wealth I equality has gone up between you, even though your neighbors standard of living hasn't really changed and your wealth is 3x higher.

The wealth inequality decreased, not increased.

That's an interesting hypothetical, but back in the real world inflation-adjusted wages have been quite stagnant for a cool half-century.

No, it didn't:
$1,000,000 - $10,000 = $990,000 disparity
$1,100,000 - $30,000 = $1,070,000 disparity

$1,000,000 to 1,010,000 is a 1% increase, and makes no difference to his life. $10,000 to 30,000 is a 300% increase, and is life changing.
Some of the frequent discussions around here are as predictable as this:
I pretty much ignore then anyway after I've read enough of it to understand where it's going. Maybe I'd stop doing that if somebody, anybody, would come up with a new approach to the argument instead those involved doing the equivalent of: Uh-huh! and Nuh-uh! which often devolves into some variant of "No, you!" for a few posts.
