Man, I'm glad I didn't have y'all's kids.
We have 4. The first was the 12 hour kid. He was going to sleep 12 hours no matter what. If you wanted to sleep till 9 on a Saturday morning you put him to bed at 9. The rest of them were going to sleep at least 8 and usually 10. All of them were good at self-entertaining and still are. From the age they could walk they have hung out with me in the shop. We worked together, played together, and while there were some tough times, we generally had the best times.
I'm 56 now. All the kids are over the age of 20 and self-supporting. They are still my favorite people to hang out with and their kids are pretty great too. We have the best times together.
I wouldn't trade them for all the money they cost me or every second I spent with them.
Besides, they buy me toys on occasion.

I love my kids and wouldn't trade them for the world. That said, they wake up at 5 no matter when they go to bed and they do not self-entertain. It's difficult. Exhausting. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
I don't think this is political (?). More historical. I was inspired by watching a doc on the fall of the wall and the USSR.
In reply to Toyman! :
Hey man! That's just like because you are like a good dad man!

Memorial to Chris Gueffroy, the last person to be killed crossing the Berlin Wall. Age 18. 9 months before the wall fell.
In reply to Beer Baron 🍺 :
Does it say which way he was going? Just curious.
In reply to aircooled :
I'm guessing I'm just lucky all my kids are like me.

Man how I wish that were really true. Still have to go to work. But the evenings and weekends are free and all the extra vacations are nice.

Three couples in one of my car groups make trips to Disney World every year. One year they all wore matching DINK shirts.

In reply to Ian F (Forum Supporter) :
I can not imagine willingly going to Disney. That would be akin to hiring a prostitute instead of sleeping with your wife. They do the same thing, but one of them is 100% faking it for the money.
As a family, we are more of a go-places and see-things group. The imitation and crowds of a theme park do not meet any of those requirements.
Edit to change the meme.
In reply to Toyman! :
I love disney. Always have. Their attention to detail used to be unmatched in the industry. We haven't been in 7 or 8 years though so things could have changed I guess.
In reply to bobzilla :
The good news is all of us aren't alike. The world would suck if we were.
In reply to Toyman! :
Can you put that on a t-shirt? cause that's something I think everybody needs to realize.
Obligatory meme

We went 8 years ago and went again 18 months ago. Things have changed. I was happy 8 years ago. I wouldn't go back now unless they fixed a lot of things.
We go to theme parks just for the roller coasters. I don't care much about characters or shows. We spent 9 days in Orlando in 2019 doing everything we could, Disney World was 4 days of that. It was good, Universal was good. Dollywood in TN has been my fave so far. Silver Dollar City in Branson MO is really good.
Jeep trails in Colorado is better than all, though.
