I used to get sooo torqued at a machine operator that defends bad work with "We've always done it that way ....".

Pretty much,  i have combined the "golden rule " and my favorite challenge rule into practice every day. At any given time. my biggest goal in my interactions is to "just don't be a dick." If i can succeed in NOT being a dick,  i have the opportunity to learn something/help someone/give someone something. 

Its just that simple. Just don't be a dick.
