Just merged into the outside lane, signaled, I was speeding by the end of the on-ramp though, maybe that was it. I used most of the on-ramp to get in front of a semi, I didn't cut it off, there was plenty of room for me to get over, but there wasn't a lot of on ramp left, I was still well within the outside white line.
Officer was a little sarcastic/combative at first, I believe he was trying to entice me into being a dick head but I didn't bite. He was adding up my violations for me, and got to $240. I handed him my license, kept my hands where he could see them, was full on eye-contact, yes sir, no sir, thank you sir. Then his demeanor changed to a much nicer fella.
My new snap on guy was able to buy out and combine my truck and credit accts, get me some stuff I very much needed, and lower my payment by 60 a month. So thats 60 lower for tools and 60 lower for car payment. Things are just working out financially right now somehow:)
berkeleying A. I just stepped on a baby copperhead in the yard.
We just had some very hard rain, so it was probably seeking high ground and maybe a toad snack. I had just stepped out onto the patio and the outside light had not kicked on yet. I stepped on something soft and squishy, just lightly enough that my brain said, "that's not a brick". I realized what it was before Dixie (our dog) figured it out. I am super glad I got her in the house before she initiated code red attack on it. Also, super glad I was wearing good thick shoes.
I am no longer sick. Thank the higher power.
Also I completely mastered a talk that I had to give in front of the whole company yesterday. Like stomped it into the ground, I love having data to prove and the cajones to tell people that they are wrong sometimes.
The physical therapist says I have a much better range of motion than most people who go through the surgery. Thankfully my employers insurance company let me vet the surgeons so I picked the best I could find.
Follow up on the snake: it isn't a copperhead. But last night in the dark, it sure fooled me. We had put it in a bucket to further id it and in the daylight it is obvious it's just an eastern rat snake. Markings are similar to copperheads on the juveniles, and according to teh interwebs they are often confused with copperheads, so I don't feel too dumb. So of course this morning we played with it and let it go in the backyard.
That went from scary to cool! Only snakes we see up here with any regularity are garter snakes and copper bellies.
Had a job interview today and I think it went really well. I am excited but I am not letting myself get too worked up yet, in case they don't pick me. But YAY anyway!

Thank you. I have to admit I felt rusty on the whole interview process, but we had good rapport during the interview. Fingers crossed, this is a great opportunity and I really didn't want to blow it.
Always a great feeling to complete a big job sucessfully the first time. Only casualties were two skid plate bolts. Lol
was told that I'm getting a two dollar raise=] Only been there for a couple weeks now.
My buddy is coming by tomorrow to check the place out and he might be coming to work here too.
It's always nice to share a good workplace with some friends who deserve it
I'm going to my hyundai training (tech orientation so I can do warranty work and get paid even more) tomorrow and, rather than me having to front for the hotel and get paid back, my boss hounded them into booking my hotel with the company credit card so I don't have to worry about that. I estimate probably $150 in gas, they'll be cutting me a check for $400 something when I get back so I'll make some profit off that.
aaaaaaand we're going to use that money to pay the app fees for the new apartment!
I feel like the Jeffersons=]
The gasoline leak from the Subaru pooling under the car and leaving a trail all the way down the street was just a worn rubber hose. Replaced for free even.
Lola (the Volvo) started, reference most recent "rant" in the rant thread. Discovered the FPR was bad, thankfully I had a spare in the giant box of spare parts.
I had the most awesome job interview yesterday. I am really REALLY hoping I get the job. Working on R&D of AR platform guns is just an amazing opportunity.
Yesterday I found a savings bond in a box. I'd forgotten about but worth $33.92 at the bank, yay. Then found an old account number to a bank I no longer use but couldn't remember if I'd closed it out. I hadn't and it had a very nice chunk of money sitting there waiting for me!
That's better than finding a 20 in a coat pocket from last year.

Though your claiming I made an "improper lane change" while merging onto the interstate is B.S. I'm very glad I kept my mouth shut, because I probably wouldn't have gotten off with a verbal warning.
Ditto. Happened to me earlier this month coming back from a casino where I left with (a little) more money than I went with.
For the sake of privacy i'm going to be very vague. A random relative of ours did something of profound jackassery that made my wife cry for a very long time and made me fantasize about tearing him limb from limb. Ok yes, it was a male, I wouldn't even imagine tearing a woman limb from limb. Today, out of the blue, he calls and apologizes to both of us. No sorry but..., no shifting the blame, just straight up coming clean and apologizing, followed by forgiveness and no hard feelings from us. Unfathomable jackassery aside, life is too short for grudges and family is still family. Ours is more together now.
