Hey Spotify, can you please stop cranking the volume of your commercials to 11? I swear they are twice as loud as the music I'm listening to, and it is always super annoying.
I gave up on free Spotify and went to free Pandora.
Spotify started playing a commercial every other song, and since they only ever had about 2 commercials in rotation, I would hear the same spots literally dozens of times in a given workday.
Pandora seems to play a commercial about every 4-5 songs, and they have a bigger variety at least. Plus they're not cranked up.
FX always plays their TV commercials super loudly, too. It's counterproductive because I just mute them as soon as it goes to break, and I'm inches away from going all-streaming anyway.

I was at my dealer yesterday having them them investigate the latest reason for my constant Check Engine light. While I was there, a service advisor - who was not the same person I was dealing with - came out to give some information to an elderly gentleman who was a bit hard of hearing. She was telling him that the latch mechanism on his hatch was failed and that's why it wasn't working and that it would be a thousand-some to replace the latch. He was obviously having a little bit of difficulty understanding everything she was saying, but she was getting visibly frustrated with him and just kept repeating that the tech said the latch has to be replaced. Do you want to do it or not? He was trying to ask if it could possibly be the latch because he thought that it worked with the inside switch, but just not the key or something like that and she cut him off and said she was going to talk to the tech and sort of huffed and rolled her eyes while she walked away. The whole time she was talking to him, she had a really rude tone to her voice and was acting like she was being put out.
There could certainly be a lot more to that story, but I cannot stop being bothered by her treatment of this guy. My interactions with everyone else there have always been great, so I don't have anything to be mad about, personally, but I'm pissed on his behalf.

The parts have been waiting on all day are finally done. Time to drive the hour to the Machine Shop the hour from the Machine Shop to the customer and the hour from the customer back home. And then get up at 5:00 a.m. to get the girls to school. Tomorrow is going to lick balls.
Got home at 2am. Fell asleep at 3, didn't sleep more than 30 continuous minutes until the alarm went off at 5:30
Today licks balls.

I started a list of products that won't be getting my money because of how often I heard their commercials.
Taco Bell nacho fries, Gold Leaf iced tea and State Farm insurance are currently at the top of that list.
I am really, really, really burnt out. 15 years in the same race to the bottom career has made me start researching other things I can do. I've hustled, worked myself to the brink, dealt with chronically dissatisfied clients for too long, and I just don't have it in me anymore. I could work feverishly for 70 hours a week and never get so much as a thank you. From anyone.

That sucks. Sounds like it's time to see what other areas your skill set transfers to. Best of luck!
Minor rant #1: Our work day starts at 8 am. You have 4-5 hours of work to be done. I need to start the job in the morning so I can be sure to complete it in one day. Meeting you at 2 pm, when you usually get there doesn't work. You need to get your lazy ass up and down to your church in time to meet us first thing in the morning. I don't really care if 2 pm is more convenient, that doesn't leave enough time to complete the work. You need to pick a day before I assign you one a couple of weeks from now.
Minor rant #2. If you call me and need service immediately, that is emergency service no matter when it happens. It will be billed at overtime rates and with a 4-hour minimum even if the work happens at 9 am on Wednesday and takes 30 minutes. You have to pay for the privilege of screwing up my schedule and for my office having to deal with the phone calls to tell my other customers why we are running behind schedule or why they might get pushed back a day. No, I'm not picking on you or trying to rip you off. That cost is there so people will think long and hard about declaring an emergency. If I didn't charge that much, every call would be an emergency and we would work have to work 24/7/365 to keep up.

I was about to say what commercials, but I pay for premium and have for 12+ years at this point. My fiance and I definitely get $15/month worth of use out of it. $180 isn't even two dinners.
A big bonus is being able to set up and download long playlists and then you don't even have to use data when you're in the car or on a road trip.
Okay, so I had a big long day right? And I was gonna cap it all off with checking out a nearby home for my sister to consider, except I found a dog.
So I have a husky. Husky is doing husky things- got out of the backyard once, now in the garage with food and water. Except in the garage despite having lights on and it being cool, the dog is FREAKING OUT. Whining, howling, banging on the door, whole 9 yards. Cat is terrified under my bed.
Animal control closed at 6, before I even found the dog so there's nobody to take them. Humane society closed as well and an employee just getting off told me nobody was there to help. Police non-emergency line straight out told me that if I couldn't keep the dog at my home to let them go with the hope they'll be fine (!), and no vet office is open currently so I cant even read a chip. I HAVE to wait until 8am tomorrow, or wait until someone on a "Lost pets of [my city]" see my post and call me.
I'd bring the dog inside, but i'm not sure if my cat can handle it :/ What city doesn't have animal control? And my day was going gangbusters, too...

Well, yours and mine and probably a whole host of others following our little socioeconomic realignment over the last few years. Law enforcement here is dealing with staffing issues, among other "challenges", and it's at the point where I sometimes wonder how bad things can really get.
Unrelated rant, although similar in that it's another situation about which I often wonder how bad it can get before something gives, Little Monohue has been waking us up several times a night for the past couple of weeks. I try to explain that it's normal for people to wake up, and that he'll go back to sleep if he just gives it some time, but as this is not a 1980s sitcom, the issue remains unresolved. It's getting genuinely tiresome.
In reply to GIRTHQUAKE :
Most. In my county, there are only a few private "rescue centers" that do the animal control job. Except no one answers the phones or calls back because they're so backed up. Call the cops, and they ignore the law that says "15 hours alone is considered neglect" and actually suggested breaking a window to let them out of the house they are locked in. Then wanted to start a song and dance about trespassing and breaking and entering.
More and more I'm finding the state sponsored revenue agents completely, utterly, criminally incompetent and useless.
The unwritten ban here on relating any negative EV news/events no matter how well documented and factual.
Guy at work is doing his best to infuriate me today. "At my last job I was the manager and none of what we do here makes sense." Listen guy, there's a reason you're not a manager anymore. Guy has the IQ of a rusty door knob and the attitude of a busted politician. I think my civility is about to end.
In reply to GIRTHQUAKE :
As a dog owner and fellow human being, let me just say thank you for giving a E36 M3.
Take the Husky for a LONG walk, it will be good for both of you.
But only you will be sore the next day.
In reply to Furious_E and RichardSIA :
I already got her to the humane society when they opened yesterday; very sweet girl. I wish I had thought to keep her downstairs and block off the upper portion to protect my cat, which likely would have made her far calmer and saved us a lot of grief and a sleepless night, but now I know better.
Someone definitely owns her tho; she was well groomed and well behaved, but had MEAN separation anxiety. Wish I could say it's the only husky I've saved, half the dogs at my local rescue are literally all Huskies and pitties.
I'm pretty sure I mentioned this in another thread but I've noticed a trend lately, people who put things up for sale but don't really seem to have any interest in selling them. I phoned a guy about a bike back in May because I was going to be in the area and wanted to see it. He completely blew me off with excuses like I'm busy, I don't have time, and wasn't interested in trying to work something out. It had been for sale already a while and he's since dropped the price. It could turn out to be a very good deal. So I messaged him this time on messenger. It's like pulling teeth trying to get a response, and when I do it's vague.
We set it up for this evening since I'm working, and already halfway there. I message him again at lunch, coming this evening, I need an address. His answer? OK. Then an hour later says, it's in a storage unit at this street and that street. It's a big city. I don't know it. I need an address, which I am now waiting for, and may only get about the time I have to go. I brought the money, I brought my trailer, it's half an hour from here. It could turn out to be a very worthwhile exercise. It could turn out to be a total waste of time.
I know if I had a $$ bike for sale, and somebody was interested, I'd probably do what I could to make it as easy as possible.
This almost made it into the minor win thread, but I'm just not feeling that gracious right now.
Dang main sewer line picked a hell of a hot day to demand attention. And it was a rare day in that I had some tasks lined up and actually had a reasonable chance of accomplishing them. Instead I got to wring my hands in anguish weighing the likely effectiveness of various chemicals, then spend an hour or so shoving a drain bladder into the cleanout and farther and farther down the pipe, pulling it back out again. Meanwhile the boss turned the water on and off and got more and more irritable, and the kid found new and creative ways to demand the full attention of at least one person who was not in a great position to help.
It's done. Nobody died. It didn't cost us any money. I'm showered up and cooled off, and everybody in the house can resume pooping with reckless abandon, just like in the old days. But dammit if it wasn't frustrating.
I have a work windows laptop and two HP monitors for my WFH set up. Ever since I got a new laptop, the HP monitor on the left has slightly bigger text and icons than the one on the right. IT doesn't care to help and I've check the basics like the monitor menus and the display settings and I can figure it out. It's not a huge problem but it's pushing my OCD button hard.
Perfect end to a perfect day.
Fastenal are now "Fulfillment Centers", no more walk in.
And you cannot use their "Blue Lane" service nationwide.
It's hot and everything is dead.

Right click on both desktops to pull up the video settings.
Make sure they are both set to exactly the same refresh rate. Also make sure neither of them is set to overscan (or both are).
