When my work sent my new, big curved monitor they initially wanted me to ship the two old ones back- but when they found out that they were about 20-year-old, small, non-widescreen ones they essentially told me to just throw them away. Which worked out well since one of the other engineers here was looking for monitors to use to set up a second workstation at the office since he had to split his time between home and the office. I've literally got a box full of old docking stations, mice/keyboards, and other random crap from old work computers that I don't know what to do with.
In reply to Ashyukun (Robert) :
Not sure about the monitors ( they're actually VGAs from the company that was bought out by my current employer), but I think I have the option of sending my old computer back when I get everything set up on the new one, or they can do a remote wipe on it, and it's mine.
I replaced my deck a while ago, and the remains of the old deck are piled behind the garage. I'd like to take them to the dump, along with an ugly old basketball hoop and some worn out suspension parts. I no longer own a pickup truck and don't have a trailer. Just rent a truck from Home Depot right? WRONG. My Home Depot neglected to renew the registration on their trucks so I can't rent one. Booo.

According to other threads, you don't need a truck.
In reply to eastsideTim :
I've never been given an option like that (our computers all come from a difference company and not in-house), but they did essentially forget that I had my previous-previous laptop for the entire time I had my previous laptop and I had to pester them to get a label to send the really old one back to them so it wasn't taking up space at home when I started working from home.

Hah, I saw that right after I posted my little rant. I don't want to stuff my Xterra full of rotten and spidery wood, but I guess that's just a different rant.

The guy who bought an engine from me yesterday picked it up in a Scion Xb. Of course, we had to use my hoist to load it.
Today I needed to take said hoist to my storage unit to load an engine (in addition to 4 transmissions, 3 cylinder heads and a bunch of other crap), so I could move out of the unit. That would have been pretty difficult without my truck.
Can you make do? Sometimes... I'd rather own a truck.
Drove to look at another truck, F250 XL 2021 pricing is decent and its the options I want. Have a deal all squared away I take a few hours off work to go up. 4 start place on Google has three dealerships in the area.
Get there with my check and the deal has changed to add in 5000$ of non removable extra's from the truc scotch guard that sort of E36 M3 not even a warranty. This is a 24K truck. I am going to go postal on the used car manager and sales guys as we discussed this before I took time off to drive up. Seriously want to send them a bill for my hourly.

Look on Craigslist and see if you pay someone to haul off it for you? We did that before when a bunch of stuff we were getting rid had piled up in the garage, boxes, nasty or broken yard stuff.
Actually I just did a Google search for a company locally. They pulled up with a big truck, that had like a big dumpster as the bed. Loaded everything up, and even used their leaf blower to clean the floor of the garage afterward.
Weary, DO bill them.
If they cannot keep to a deal they should pay for your time.

Gotta get that Tru Coat.
There's a company installing fiber-optic internet in my area. Wonderful, right? Except for the part where they blocked my driveway with a berkeley-off big box truck and left a ginormous ditch witch parked on my berkeleying lawn...

This. I would straight-out say "Well now I can't buy the truck. Thanks dickhead." and let them stew. Americans have had nasty court cases over attempts to reneg on deals for damn good reasons.

Can you call your local PD to have them towed? Or mess with them? Because it's clear they only do that because they expect people to just be mad and accept it, and not fight back.
I say this because years ago, I had to seriously put the screws to a contractor for someone on my street who blocked our driveway; I had an on-call shift that day and they refused to listen even when I showed by NREMT number and badge. For the first time ever, 911 actually had an officer in the area in minutes who gave him the option of moving the box truck or prison for impeding the work of an emergency medical worker.

A guy in another department is a pain. To me. To everyone. He's condescending and has an attitude about everything. He's nitpicky and people scream their heads off at him all the time.
I return an Email in which he distorts the background of a project for no reason other than to add a "screw you" to me because I am changing a drawing. I start the Email off with "thanks for a colorful rendition of history. Regardless...." and go on to explain why I need this changed. It's my drawing. It's my project. It's a prototype. We're not even in production yet. We've bought no tooling. It wasn't even a mistake.
He and his boss go to HR and try to get me fired for my language.
For the word "colorful".
Time to get the resume dusted off.
In reply to tuna55 :
I'm pretty sure I work with him too.
In reply to tuna55 :
Literally, scream? Like a 3 yo throwing a temper tantrum?
There is no way I would put up with that behavior from an adult if they worked for me. The loss of production from childish behavior would not be tolerated. Someone would be terminated, post haste.
Rule number one around here is to act like a professional at all times. Rule number two is to act like an adult. I will put up with a long list of errors and mistakes but you do have to act like an adult. I don't raise my voice. I don't yell. I don't scream. I am an adult and expect that from the people who work for me. Work is work. It's time to put on your big-boy pants and act accordingly. If you can't I will fire you.
Edit: Just the thought of what that type of behavior would do to my entire company culture sets my teeth on edge. Why any employer would allow that toxic behavior to infect their employees is beyond me.

The guy is bad enough the several people have screamed at him. Like, yelling, "GTF of my office" or thereabouts. He has yelled a few times, though I've not witnessed any of his "screaming". The point of that sentence was that he drove several others to scream at -him-. Not me. I don't raise my voice at work. It's just work.
In reply to tuna55 :
Still mind-boggling and I'd still fire him. That is not the kind of toxic environment an employer should tolerate. It makes everyone miserable and then the focus of the workforce is not aimed at getting the job done.

Called the "How am I driving" number on the back of the truck and left a scathing review. Then I mowed my lawn and blew the grass clippings all over their ditch witch. If they broke a sprinkler head, they'll be getting the repair bill for that, too. berkeleyers.
Sales staff who leave the office at least fifteen minutes early.
I was going to buy a few items, you know, that kind of thing that keeps you employed?
Not my fault your website tries to keep your location a secret so I will not know your time zone, but YOUR outside sales guy sent me to you.
He clearly stated your hours, you left early.
You are not a monopoly, I will buy elsewhere.
Got to feeling down about all the time spent keeping my cars simply running and started a redundant thread to complain. SMH

When you're advertising your product as a surround sound "system", the customer shouldn't need to buy anything else to make it work. If it doesn't include the amplifier, the correct description would be "speakers" NOT "system".
It is very hard for facebook seller man to suggest a time to meet, but then confirm a location it seems.
We're 30 minutes after their own requested meeting time. If you don't want it sold, that's on you bud.

Of only it was that easy sometimes. We've created such a miserable environment here that anyone that applies for our job gets it regardless of competence or how E36 M3ty a person they are. Once they're here they stay and it's expected that the rest of us will carry and coddle them as much as necessary to keep the place functioning.

My company sent everyone home at the beginning of COVID in March 2020. Like 1000 people. They told us to take all our computer stuff with us. Laptops. 2 -Monitors. Keyboard. Mouse. Then they laid off like 600 people. They got NONE of the stuff back. They finally decided that everyone who had equipment could keep their stuff. They started bringing people back in mid 2021. They had to spread out bringing us back because they didn't have enough equipment and everything needed was back ordered.
